Well it looks like I have found a good Sheltie breeder but I am naturally nervous. I really do not want to make a mistake at any costs. I know the parents and pups should be CEA tested and registered with the KC. Which the breeder ensures me the pups will be eye tested next week (they are only 5 weeks right now). I'm going to see her on Saturday. Is there any other things I should closely look at about the breeder? What sort of forms should come with my puppy when I finally take him home at 8 weeks?  What sort of questions should I ask her? I'm such a worry wart so even though I think I'll get it right ( I have read books and studied) I really would like others opinions. Information seems to go out my head when I'm nervous and on the spot, so I'd like a little list or does and don'ts. Come August the 1st I could be taking my puppy home! *bites nails*  I'm so excited but ever so nervous too! It's a big step!

At the very least you should expect a pedigree chart, if the registration documents are not yet received from the Kennel Club it should confirm in your contract that the pup is being registered and that papers will follow.  The parents health test results should be on the registration document if they are not yet available the breeder should be able to show you a copy of the results.  The KC code demands that the breeder give you a diet sheet but I would expect all good breeders to also include further information about rearing and details of worming already carried out, when next to do this and a recommended product and vaccination records if appropriate.

Actually the parents should be DNA tested for CEA not just puppy screened at 6-12 weeks & then tested yearly after that for PRA etc.

Certificates are isssued for all tests, make sure that you see them and they apply to the dogs in question ;) its easy to forget this when looking at pups :D :D

Hackney in London! I've been to see the puppies now and was pleased with what I saw. Mother of the pups was very friendly, all pups reared in a pen in the living room. The parents are genetically eye clear and the pups go for testing soon (bit too young right now). I've put a dispoist on a little boy pup with full white blaze. Should be bringing him home on the 3rd of August! I'm very excited! :)
