hi im very new to the show world and have a pup who is 3 months which im training at ring craft. She will be ready to come out in september, the thing is i dont know what sort of shows i should enter her into to start with,i know some of the entries have to be in a month or so before the shows, so im thinking ahead, can anyone give me some advice thanks.

Hi Luvapug
its completely up to you which type of show you enter first.Open shows are smaller but you may get a less reliable idea of how good your dog is since you may have an all rounder as a judge and there will be less pugs entered.
A champ show is more expensive and much more 'formal' but you will get to meet more pugs and hopefully get a better idea of the quality of your baby.
My first show was at a champ show...and I had a great time!
As for shows...have a look at http://www.prodogs.co.uk  you will find a list of champ and open shows.

thanks archer can you explain cc's, bob, ect what is needed to get to champ level thanks

You don't need anything to enter a champ show except a dog who is KC registered!
CC....means challenge certificate.Awarded to the best dog and best bitch at a champ show where CC's are on offer for that breed.
BOB...means best of breed....the best dog and best bitch compete against each other to see who wins best of breed. The BOB then competes for best in group.
Anything else you don't understand? If you can it is a great help to go and watch a show before you compete.....you can also then get to talk to some pug exhibitors.

Also....champ show entries for some september shows are finishing soon(eg City of Birmingham =11 July)
so you need to start thinking about getting some entries in...don't be shy...we all had to start somewhere!

thanks archer, just looked at the shows for september on pro-dogs and my girl wont be old enough for them she was born on the 25/03/05 so misses out by a few days, so it will have to be October, also what should i put her in for minor puppy, or puppy ?
- By archer [gb] Date 06.07.05 15:50 UTC
Start of with minor pup if I were you.Means you won't be competing against more mature pups.I would start with only 1 class for a first show.
Where are you thinking of? Driffield or Mid counties? Can you get along to any september shows to have a look?

Hi, our first show was a championship show, but your best to start with a class for minor puppy 6-9 months old and gradually move up the classes.
