Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Apology for Sunday
- By Baylee [gb] Date 06.07.05 08:30 UTC
The organiser of the Show at Slough on Sunday has contacted me (as i said i helped out at the show) and she has asked me to put this up on the board.

The mother in question with regard to the rosettes being returned telephoned last night to say that she never meant to cause any offence by this gesture and if she did she apologises.  She thought it would be better to return the rosettes then just chuck them away when they got home so that they could be recycled.  Her daugher is apparently very distressed at what has been happening and although she does hold her hands up to "losing it" at Englefield Green she feels she and her daughter are being treated very unfairly.

I must admit that it must have taken some courage to make a call like that.  Apparently she can have an abrupt attitude as well so that dosn't help her.  As i said i have been told that she was a very nice lady until fairly recently so perhaps things have been happening that we do not know about.  Quite by chance i teleohoned about a show on Saturday and was told that this lady is judging the novelty section but that they had received calls from people saying that they were boycoting the show because of it, which is a great shame as it is the charity that will suffer.  I will try to make it but as there is no parking near the ring it will probably be out of the question for me, not lazy just hard to handle dogs and would not dream of leaving them where i could not keep an eye on them.

I see nothing wrong with rossettes being recycled and think it would be a good idea for shows to have bins where exhibitors can put their rosettes in should they not want to take them home. Over the years I accumulated a large number of rossettes, but it got to the ridiculous stage and them had to throw them out, that is except the very first rossette I ever won.  How does everybody else feel ? Should there be recycle bins or not ?

I think it would be a good idea. I know a friend of mine has just given 10 sets (1-5) of rosettes that she has won over the years to a local fun dog show so that they can save on costs.  I don't think there was ever an issue with the rosettes being returned just how it was done but the organiser has said that an apology was not necessary and as far as she is concerned the matter has been forgotten.

But there's giving rosettes back and saying "we don't want these we only keep firsts" and "if you would like you can have the rosettes back to recycle"

Good on her for apologising, maybe she will learn from her mistakes.  However I do not feel they have been treated unfairly.  Unfortantly in this world we all have to watch what we say etc.

though I say forget about, I think by what some of us have said (me included proberbly) didn't have the right to say it! :)

Seems this woman has now realised the error of her ways, I agree she was very brave to make the call to apologise to the organiser of the show on Sunday. Hopefully when we see her at Shows in the future she will have a better attitude.

Hi, I guess we will just have to wait and see if she has changed her ways or not, it must have took a lot to call the organiser, at least she did. I wonder what triggered her of that her was were totally unacceptable??

I have spoken to my friend and asked her if she knew why she phoned to apolgose.  Apparently it was because she had had a phone call from the lady running the show on this coming Saturday at which she will be judging the novelty section to say that a phone call had been received saying that the show would be boycotted because of her past actions at companion shows (does that sentence make any sense?).  It will be very interesting to see how things progress.  I was once told to boycott a show where a certain judge was disliked for something he had supposedly done (i went along to spectate as it was just down the road) only to find that the person telling everyone to boycott the show had entered herself!!!

Well good for her. I hope that in future she may let the judge do the job they are there for.
Must have been hard to do that and give her full marks for courage.
Where is the show on sunday?
Seems stupid not to go. as the charity will be the one to suffer
