How far would you travel to a non CC show? I normally only do 1 per year ...its only 1hr down the road.
However theres a show later this year thats 2 1/2 hrs away. Its also on an inconvenient day and finances say I really shouldn't enter...HOWEVER the judge really likes 2 of my boys (spoke to him after he'd 'done them well'...RBIS... in the ring and he asked what they'd won...when I told him he said 'stick at it he'll get there')
So do I make a special effort or stay at home?

For me with non CC shows it is either the show or the judge that I wull go for.

For example I won't normally do Birmingham City as the non CC entry is high, but last year I wanted to support the judge.

Then there is SWKA which is near and a lovely show so I go regardless even though their choice of judges has never been great.

On the other hand Southern Counties try hard to give usa Scandinavian judge or up and coming breed speiclist and have a good classification so I support them.

Lets face it most of us don't go in the hope fo getting the CC, so I would go for it.

Tricky! I would probably go because I'm a bit of a show addict. I usually won't travel more than 2 hours at the most for an open show (or non CC, though Cavs are never non CC breeds at a Champ show!), but I did travel right up to Scotland from London for a judge who I had heard was fair and would like my type of dog - and he got 2nd in Open Dog beating 3 champions, so it was worth the trek!

thing is when your new to the show ring and dont know the judges you have to go for as many as you can dont you????

I've been showing for 4 years now and have still been under 2 judges 2 times.I do do as many as I can but kids, finances, location and work limit the number.
As Brainless says....we don't go for the CC's...chance would be a fine thing :d  so location and money are the deciding factors for this one.

All of our shows are none CC too, so travel up to 3 hours :d  Hopefully we will be a NSC breed and have the odd class or two next year.

If it's the 'right' judge I'd probably go.  If not then I wouldn't bother for that distance.  BUT if finances and convenience say don't, then don't.  Basically go with your gut.  If you' think you've got a shot to do well on the day, then CC or no CC it still gets you and your dog's name out there.
