We ordered our box last night, is it worth it? £99 one off payment, and £43 a month, seems like a lot of money for to watch telly to me, but hubbie was like "this is what you want, you can record Corrie or what ever, while you have a nice soak in the bath, and then watch it when you are ready" and I was like " you mean when I have dragged you to the Trafford Centre on a Saturday, you can record the football so you can watch it when your ready!!"

Boys and their toys  ;)

gosh yes, i would say yes it is worth it!  BUT, we find that we 'record' lots of stuff and never end up watching it!
It is fab for pausing things though, especially if you get a phone call or want to make a cuppa, etc and then just press play again when you're ready!!  Brill!!

See my sister says the same, but I just can't see the point of spending that much to have 100 more channels of "entertainment!" But if that is what hubbie wants, that is what hubbie gets! ;)

lol, on the other hand, I completely agree with your sister!  How many channels and how many nights does there seem to be absolutely NOTHING worth watching!!  :D

Well up untill about 2 months ago, we had the full package with all the sports and movies, but we went down to the family pack (or whatever it is called with out the sports and movies!!) because we just couldn't find anything to watch, and we joined one of these online film rental places (which is very good as many films as you want for £15) So inbetween keeping an eye on Big Brother, we have watched films :D But now he has won me over to sky+ we will be paying £43 for the contract, £15 for the rentals, £11- ish for the telly licence, £100 for the actual telly, £30 for the home cinema, pls the electric, so that is over £200 a month just to watch the box!!! And then he has the cheak to moan at me for having my hair high-lighted every couple of months!!! Blooming men  You wait till he comes home tonight, he is going to be in for a nag!!!

We bought sky+ about 18months ago when it was released and it was £300 back then!

It was worth it then so £99 now is a great bargain.

It depends on what you need/want it for but for us... we are both very busy working and with animals etc and never manage to sit down and watch any tv before 9-10 at night which means we miss some decent documentaries and films, we got sky+ so we could record everything and watch it when we wanted.

Now, we dont watch any 'live tv' just the recorded programs and you can skip adverts too :D its good because you can watch stuff when you want - not when the broadcaster says you should watch it, and there are no more video tapes! :)

Im sure you will love it :)

I think I will have to wait till next Tuesday (when they are coming to fit it), to see for myself. I can see the pausing bit being usefull, if you want a cup of tea or a glass of wine, but other than that, I will have to stand corrected if it turns out we can't live without it!!!

It is fantastic, would NEVER go back to ordinary Sky again ;) We have had it for over a year now :)

We're thinking of getting it :-)

Hi all, I have ordered multi room sky+ it's coming this Friday, I think I got a good deal.  Sky+ box multi room for £49 fitted.
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 05.07.05 15:55 UTC
Are you a moneysavingexpert Cockerhouse??!!  That's where I heard of that offer.  I am trying to resist my boys who are begging me to convert to Sky+.  I know it will happen soon and it's good to hear recommendations.
- By Cockerhouse [gb] Date 06.07.05 10:04 UTC
Jackyjat I'm no expert, just tight, why pay more than you have to?
- By Natalie1212 Date 05.07.05 15:56 UTC
Yes ours will be with multi-room as well, but because we are already a Sky Digital customer, we don't get as good a deal  We have had the top package for over 4 years except the last couple of months, and we have to pay twice the price for "an upgrade" than someone who has never had Sky!!!

Cockerhouse, I am not having a go at you, just Sky!! :D
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 05.07.05 15:57 UTC
We had the multi room one installed as well :)
- By Natalie1212 Date 05.07.05 16:01 UTC
I shouldn't moan too much because they are going to replace/repair our old box for free (normally £65), and we are recieving the new subscription already for free!!! Not that we can watch it, because the old box is knackered!!
- By Rozzer [gb] Date 05.07.05 20:43 UTC
I LOVE my Sky+ ;)
- By Cockerhouse [gb] Date 06.07.05 09:53 UTC
I'm already a sky customer as well.
- By Natalie1212 Date 06.07.05 09:54 UTC
How have you got that deal then? If you don't mind me asking?
- By Cockerhouse [gb] Date 06.07.05 10:07 UTC
Sky had to really talk me into having the multi room, I said I didnt really want it,I just wanted the sky+, so they came up with a cheap deal.
- By Natalie1212 Date 06.07.05 10:30 UTC
Wish I would have known that before Sunday!!! Oh well we got a free box out of them, so I suppose that makes up for it!!!
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 06.07.05 10:23 UTC
A point of interest for anyone WITH sky+ and who has NOT got the warrenty for after the first year.....IF your box goes wrong and you know someone who is *handy* in an electrical sense ......they can remove the hard drive and check out whether there is a problem with it. The website of the HD manufacturer is on the HD itself. You can do a test AND they will tell you if the HD is still in warrenty ..if it is, they will send you a replacement free of charge ;) :D

Sky wanted £65 to come out to our box and this is exactly what Stephen has done, we are awaiting the replacement HD now, all we have to do is send the old HD back to them :)

Please be aware that this will INVALIDATE any warrenty that you have so DON'T do it unless you do not have one :)
