Topic Other Boards / Foo / Oh Help - how to remove furnature wax
- By Bluebell [gb] Date 04.07.05 07:20 UTC
In a moment of madness this weekend I decided to rewax ( the stuff with a stain in it as well) the wood in my bathroom. Just as I was finishing I droped the wax cloth on my lilac carpet and now I cannot get the stain out. Any ideas??

I remember reading somewhere that you can place a cotton cloth or kitchen towel, over a wax stained area and gently warm with an iron to draw the wax out,but if it's a nylon carpet be very careful with the iron temperature.
Alternatively why not ask for professional advice from a carpet manufacturer ;)

LOL Lucy that is exactly what I have done! Trouble is I know that is lurking underneath, so I think I will have to try some heat to try and lift it out. If that fails I think I may try rubbing some talc in, so it blends in with the rest of the bathroom.

IMHO it just goes to show that it really dosent pay to keep my house too clean.

if the carpet is likely to melt using an iron, why not try a hairdryer to melt the wax. use a good absorbent paper towel to blot up and a little paint thinners should get rid of any residual colour that may be left behind :-)  (tip from haleys cleaning hints bk) worth having IMO if your prone to accidents like me :D
