Can anyone explain what these might be? What would cause them, and how do you get rid of them? Also would they be hereditary? A friend is interested in buying a puppy but she noticed the dam had about ten of these on her chin and was wondering about them.
Thanks

Sounds to me like a form of acne, which Dobes are very prone to. I tried a number of things with my bitch and found that the only thing that kept them under control was Aloe Vera gel (for a while she also had the Aloe drinking juice). I have also heard that applying methylated spirits with cotton wools helps, although I have never tried this. Hope this helps.
They might be scars from puppy acne? Many Dobes seem to get a form of acne on their chins as they mature - this can be helped by washing the area regularly and after meals.
Does your friend know anything about the problems that Dobermanns can (should) be tested for such as von Willebrands Disease (at least one parent should be clear of this disease so that there are no affected pups born), PHPV - ideally puppies as well as breeding adults should be tested and HD

Don't know how relevant it to this situation, but I have heard other dobe owners talking about their dogs reacting to the bowl their food/water comes out of - plastic seems to have the most effect, often causing pimples.

Thanks again
