Welcome to my world.  Picture this 5 Double coated dogs with light gray undercoat leaving their hair everywhere!!!

I think most people have found this has been one awful year for coat shedding.  We have had a lot of changeable wether and this has confused many dogs bodies, and they have stoppped and started their coat changes several times over.

What shedding tool are you using??  A shedding comb (alternating long and short teeth) is a godsend and you can also get shedding combs with an anti-static handle (rubberised)  You could try using a damp rubber brush/glove, this always gets loads out.  Some people also use the rubber brush in the bath with great results.

Hope this helps :)

i just feel so sorry for him he is bound to be itchy..i have noticed him scratching more than normal.. even when i pat him and rub my had down his back a load of hair comes with me..... any idea of a good tool to help him out. i dont mind the hairs .. i spend my life covered in dog hair and smelling of dog so i dont mind but i would love to help him and make him look nice like the others and take the itch away

i am using a tool that sits in your hand a bit like a half moon with 2 shedding blades

Wlcome to my world (there should be a crying emoticon) lol.  8 Labs here, all blowing coats, have renamed them 'gypsy rose Lee' :P  The only tool I use is a good metal comb, brilliant for getting all the dead coat removed and grabs the tufts that a glove/brush/shedder cannot grab. then I hoover all my dogs.

Cally I would forget the shedding blades, try the SHEDDING COMB and RUBBER BRUSH/GLOVE (damp) they will take out the dead coat and leave the new, sounds like you may be cutting the coat with the blades.

I find with my dogs with similar coats that a bath helps a LOT. That way I get most of the coat out in the few days after the bath, rather than it taking weeks.

Yep, I bath and take dog outside with an extension lead to the hairdryer and blow and brush the lot out.  The birds love me at nesting time :)

Little tip - Make sure you are not down wind :D

Try doing a search for the "Furminator" it is the BEST THING you will ever buy. It's american but you can easily order it online. About £27.00. But worth every penny. For short haired dogs nothing beats it. We use it in our salon all the time. Our customers have praised it.
There is two a blue or yellow, you will only need the blue.

I feel soooo sorry for you all :d :d  I think that I'll stick with my non-shedding dogs :d

I agree with you Macey.  The furminator is amazing!!!  I invested (v. expensive) in one a couple of weeks ago and have never seen so much undercoat come out of my dogs!!!  I can highly recommend it.

Sarah.
