I am wanting to stud my dog, but i have no idea how to go about it. can anyone give any tips?

Also it is the bitch owners who chose the studs for theri girls.  They will be looking for dogs that excel in the qualities that their bitches are not so strong in and that are better than their rivals. 

To prove this you will need to show or work your dog for the breeders to appreciate his superior qualities. 

If he is an average nice dog then reputable breedrs are unlikely to choose him over proven eoutstanding studs they could use.

You should not even consider any other type of breeder, as they would be the sort who will cut corners on the dtud the puppy rearing and the home finding, and therefore are likely to contribute to the rescue problem, as they won't be interested in their pups once sold.

Not all good stud dogs are show dogs my dogs are all sired by a pet dog with a good pedigree who compliments my dog and has sired quite a few champions.  When I went about finding a stud dog for the first time I went to the breed club and was told about a dog which would compliment my line by the secretary of the breed club.

That said you can advertise on various sites but remember the type of people who respond to adverts are usually novices at breeding and will need wet nursing right the way through.  You will also have to evaluate for yourself how good the bitches are.  I have had lots of enquires from dogs with patches and blue eyes which are disqualifactions by the breed standard therefore unsuitable for breeding.  You will need some kind of breeding experience to help them.  I no longer use my boy at stud as I found it more stressful than having a litter myself!!!!   It really is not a case of a quick shag and then taking the money.
