My bitch staffy is approx 8 1/2 mth old and has yet to have her first season, i have noticed that her bits are looking a bit swollen and sometimes there is alittle discharge. Does this mean she is about to come into season? also recently when she sees someone new she has been getting very excited and just wees herself, is this all because she is coming into season?  Also how long does a season last?

The vulva does become swollen with the oncome of the season and you may notice her begin to lick herself and clean herself more frequently in that area. Keep an eye on the discharge - you can try a white piece of tissue underneath to check when the discharge becomes blood coloured. The blood duration varies from each bitch - mine bleeds for three weeks but usually they are less than this and you still need to be warey of dogs encountering your bitch when the blood flow stops
