Does anyone have any advice on rescue staffies and behaviour with other dogs?  I have 5 other rescue dogs and they are all laid back and get on very well.  My staffie is 2 years old and she does not have a lot of manners.  She is ok most of the time with them and a complete sweetie. I have only had her a few days but she has started to jump on the back of my other dogs which are not staffies and they do not like it at all. My other dogs do not really retaliate and I do not want them to as I do not want any of them fighting but I feel she does need putting in her place just the same to learn her some manners.  I am open to any help and suggestions that experienced staffie owners can offer.

It will all probably be due to her past history and what manners (if any) her previous owners taught her. Staffys are quite a bouncy breed when playing. They can look aggressive in play to the inexperienced  owner but they dont actually cause any harm. I can appreciate  that your other dogs may not like to play as such.

My other dogs do like to play but they are not so sure of the stranger, and what she is doing to them i.e jumping on them and then gripping on for dear life and humping them.  To be honest they can't really be bothered with it. It is very early days yet but I don't want any of my dogs hurt unneccesarily or any animosity at this early stage.  There has been a few barring of teeth and a few growls already but that will hopefully learn her some manners and teach her that her behaviour is not always accepatable.  Lady is quite puppy like although I have been advised that she is 2 and I don't really know if her previous owners have taught her anything.  She was apparently chained to an old whirly on concrete and kept there without any shelter all her life.  The poor baby has very leather like ears they are also a bit ragged and scabs on her nose and head and some other sore bits on other parts of her body.  It was only due to the neighbours that they eventually gave her up.  I so want this to work as she like the rest of my rescue dogs deserve a chance to have a happy loving life and not have to worry about anything again except is it dinner time yet! She is very loving and craves attention from all humans that she has met so far.  I am trying to socialise her as much as possible and plan on taking her to training classes.

The humping is probably part of her trying to assert her dominance etc. Im sure they will sort it our between themselves. I have 2 staffys and have just taken on a rescue staffy cross girly. All has been well so far but like I say they do like to play what *appears* to be rough but is more vocal than anything with lots of baring of teeth (which as i mentioned before can look a bit scarey to the inexperienced owner but is actually just *play* )
so long as you keep an eye on things and stop play when any of them get too excited or too rough then Im sure all will be fine

Thanks I know who to contact now with any staffie questions as we have not had one before but have always liked the breed.  We have all just been for our 1st walk with all 6 dogs.  I don't know who is more tired, me and my husband or the dogs!  I'll keep you updated on our progress.
