last year I bought a great dane from what was supposed to be a reputable breeder...it transpires the the gentleman has been officially deported out of the country and the lady is still in the uk and trading puppies...I have yet to recieve my dogs papers.  We paid £900 for our beautiful girl but no papers...therefore no showing or breeding! Please can anyone help me as to what to do next.  Trading standars are investigating but it all takes time.  Can I name and shame?  can I inform a perticular official body about this?
Any help will be gratefully recieved

I think if Trading Standards are investigating all you can do is be patient.  By naming and shaming before their investigations are finished you risk being accused of libel.  I hope things are resolved for you but I'm afraid I suspect, even if Trading Standards bring a successful case against them, your dog will remain unregistered.  This will not stop her being a very lovable pet though and to be honest, if the breeder is behaving like this, her pedigree must be regarded with suspicion and therefore she could never have been a breeding prospect.

I think I may know who this is. Have you spoken to the lady concerned? How old is your dane now? Did you get a receipt for your money?

Have you advised the breed Clubs and also the KC.  I know the KC don't do anything but I'd still advise them.  Did you have anything in writing to say that the pup would be KC registered and them sent onto you?

Join it's free, but don't name and shame them, as unfortunately you could get into trouble for doing so.

Hope it all turns out right people like this annoy me so much and unfortunately it happens in every breed.

Like ChloeH  I think I know who this person is. I know of someone else who bought an older dog and is in the same situation as yourself. If the grapevine is correct this 'gentleman' is now back in the country although I don't know what help this would be.

I think several of us know who's being discussed :( - did they buy an older puppy who doesn't seem to be registered, or one of the adults but haven't received papers to transfer?  I wonder if the ownership on one of the affixes is in question and transfers are proving tricky?

Might help if we knew what colour the dog is in order to advise? Weren't they breeding separate colours - or did I dream that?!

Could be any colour on his side, more limited on hers.

The person I know bought an older dog to save it from being put to sleep. The dog was registered with the KC as it had been shown previously, the purchaser did not receive the papers to enable transfer.
