When can you hear puppy fetal heartbeats with a stethoscope?  I have one at home and my bitch is probably around 43 days along now but I can't tell if she is pregnant.  She doesn't appear any bigger yet but she did carry her last litter up high in her rib cage.  BTW, she is a Sheltie.  ~~Linda

I have a small breed and I can hear clearly at 42 days.

If you can get her to relax on her back and run the stethoscope along the side on the outside of her nipples.

You can tell the difference because they are abviously fainter but faster.

I got my stethoscope from eBay too.  I still have not picked up any heartbeats and but she is about 45 days along now.  Maybe I have to wait longer or maybe she is not pregnant.  ~~Linda

It very much depends on which way they are lying :)  they will sound like wrist watches/pocket watches depending on their size :)

Glad to hear that you have puppies.  My bitch turned out not to be pregnant so that explains why I could not hear any heartbeats.  Oh well, I am off to look at a show puppy bitch tomorrow from another breeder.  Good luck with your litter!  ~~Linda

Ooooh debsspaniel hope all goes well. My Lana is getting big now and is finding it really hard to lie down, especially as she's one of those dogs that lies fully stretched out with her frogs legs behind her.

The stud dog owner from Spain saw her last week and says that he thinks she wil have 4 to 5, she had 4 last time so I hope she has 5 :d

Hi i think she has got six, she is very well in herself ,but not eating very much now & sleeping all day . I thought she was going into labour last night as her temp dropped and her nose was running eyes were red got me a bit concerned as she is not due till next sat, but she is very very big this is her first litter so i will be keeping a close eye on her.regards debbie.
