I've got a serious case of curiosity at the moment :)

What other pets do all of you have, alongside your pampered pups?

At the moment, I have..

4 rats (Robin, Morris, Barry & Monty, all 1 yr old)
3 degus (Danilov, Kolya & Vasillis, all 10 months)
26 mice (I'll spare you the names!!! 6 females, 20 males, all 18 + months)
Something like 450 millipedes (a few different species, 440 are little babies)
23 goldfish & shubunkin out in the pond (and quite a few new babies :D)
Various barbs & catfish, including a 12" plec (Charlie, 6 now) I just put in the aforementioned pond for the summer...
4 cats (Smoke, Whisp, Hetti & Phoebe, and a friend's cat I'm looking after - Peepoo)
And not forgetting, of course, the mutts - Remy (dobermann, 2), Opi (rottweiler X GSD, 2) and Tia (dobe X rott, 7).

Phew!  Just a couple :)  The next pet will be either a dalmatian puppy or a rescue dobe, but that won't be for a few years yet!
- By LeanneK [gb] Date 30.06.05 16:13 UTC
urrm whats a degus? (blushing incase this is obvious, *goes off to do search on google*)  Thats some list of animals!!!! You must spend your whole life cleaning cages and tanks.

I have one cat age 16, persian X (crossed with a tiger I think)

And a wild mouse that lives in the garage.

and loopy yorkie.

There is a slug somewhere in my kitchen :) I think they come in as tiny things on the dogs coat.  We have had them before and the only way to find them is get up in the middle of the night to catch them in the act of trawling the bread board for crumbs at which point it will find its days as a pet over :D
- By Loganberry [gb] Date 30.06.05 16:40 UTC
27 cats Goldmali???
- By LeanneK [gb] Date 30.06.05 16:45 UTC
Great minds think alike luvapug.
- By LeanneK [gb] Date 30.06.05 16:44 UTC
27 cats goldmali? is that a typing error or do you really have 27?  How do you manage them.

I too have random pet slugs (yak) I found one coming through the letterbox the other night, these too have a short pet life.  My mouse in the garage im okay with, people keep saying kill it but NO WAY.  If he,  any of his extended family come into the house I will get humane traps and take them to the field.
- By voors [gb] Date 30.06.05 16:49 UTC
i got me doggie Gizmo n a prairie king snake Sissy, and i used to have 2 bearded dragons as well called gex and hex but gex died and i gave hex to a friend :(
- By Loganberry [gb] Date 30.06.05 16:50 UTC
27 cats must be a spelling mistake or they owns a cattery
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 30.06.05 16:56 UTC
No, I believe she breeds pedigree cats.
:)
- By Isabel Date 30.06.05 16:56 UTC
Oh we had a mouse once too :)  When I found a chicken bone! dragged behind the microwave I knew that was going to be a short lived pet.  I found him hiding under the microwave, husband had a look with the torch and said "ahhh he's only got one eye" but I said don't be so soft and now that little mouse has none :)
- By Natalie1212 Date 30.06.05 16:59 UTC
Here here Isabel!!

We nipped into Asda, for a few things a couple of months ago, and this mouse hopped across the aisle in front of us - needless to say we go to Tesco's now :D I don't mind them in cages but not in my house and certainly not where there is fresh food :(
- By LeanneK [gb] Date 30.06.05 17:02 UTC
I think im too soft then cos I couldnt kill one, especially if it had one eye awwwwww My brother goes mad at me.  The only thing I will allow to be killed are Wasps they are NOT GOOD pets ha ha
- By Natalie1212 Date 30.06.05 17:07 UTC
Any insect HAS to be dealt with in our house! Spiders, moths and things that buzz should all know not to come in our house, they never make it back out again alive!!! We have frogs and toads in the garage - although we don't have a pond or anything so I dont know why they like it in there! In the summer when the doors are open, they sometimes have a wonder in, they don't bother me, nor snakes or lizards or anything like that, just insects, rats and mice - oh and bats! My skin is crawling all over now! :( :)
- By caz3536 [gb] Date 30.06.05 17:35 UTC
Apart from my dog I have

2 Cats
2 Rats
3 Fish
2 Albino African Clawed frogs
A pond full of tadpoles and wild frogs
Oh and the kids, do they count?

My OH says no More, till next week anyway!!!!
- By Isabel Date 30.06.05 17:05 UTC
It turned out my husband thought he might have been the mouse that he has been tolerating living in the garage for months  What if it had chewed through electric wires and burnt the place down with his precious Norton (the only vehicle allowed in his garage) he wouldn't have been so sentimental about one-eyed Jerry then would he :D
- By harry25 [gb] Date 30.06.05 17:06 UTC
I have one hamster called Harry, he's just over a year old, so middle-aged!
- By ChristineW Date 30.06.05 17:19 UTC

Blimey I couldn't have anymore pets otherwise the choas would be un-controlable :p

Have looked after hamsters and hated the little thing as he was so messy and stunk :)

My daughter once tried the 'can we look after the school rats as nobody else will ?' routine  I was persuded to do it but go inot the school each day.

- By Goldmali Date 30.06.05 23:21 UTC
If the hamster did stink it wasn't a he, it was a she in heat! ;)

Marianne (former breeder and judge of them)
- By Bluebell [gb] Date 30.06.05 19:11 UTC
LOL you count them....?

The one I know about are: 2 chockie labs Hook aged 9 and Truffle aged 2
3 cats, Spice and Fin, who are about 7 and Gina who I have no real idea  of age but best guess is about 12, complete with perminently dislocated hip and no teeth (it dosent slow her down much, stop her eating anything of stop her being in charge even over the Labs)

A pond full of fish, started out about 15, but the heron has had a few and then the have been breeding like rabbits. Frog all over the place, loads of house spiders and what ever pet Fin and spice decide to bring home to play with. Oh yes and Fins girlfriend from over the back Stella, when she thinks the dogs and Gina are asleep!

Can I count the OH as I often think of him as a pet :D Infact he is the one that accumulates all of the animals except dogs. Sees them in need and just cannot resist!
- By cutewolf [gb] Date 30.06.05 19:17 UTC
As well as the dog I have a Guinea Pig and a Rabbit.
Think I'm sticking to dogs when they've gone though - they're more trouble than they're worth in my opinion!

We have two cockateils if thats spelt right and three dogs, and the birds are ay pain as im sitting hear typing lemon drop is pecking my hands and dora is squaking, give me dogs any day of the week.  The best thing about dogs is you can have a conversation with them and everything you say is right so thats great for me. Ha ha ha.  Why Chloe haven't you got a lot of horses there have you got your own yard.

Warm regards susan
- By Carla Date 30.06.05 21:34 UTC
Not my own yard, they are all kept at home - out 24 x 7 x 365 on 15 acres.
- By ClaireyS Date 30.06.05 22:00 UTC
As well as Fagan and Alfie my red head Irish gents ( gents used in VERY loose terms ;) )  I have Tarquin and Delilah my 20 month old Tonkinese x cats, Benjamin the blackmoor fish and Cyril the bubble eye fish, Frank the Californian King snake and Ainsley the newt who lives in the dogs paddling pool :)  Also various small creatures and birds of varying states of life / death.  I used to breed small furries and mum keeps parrots, which I have to look after occasionally I cant be bothered with the hassle of caged animals now, seems like too much hard work all that cleaning out

Do the dead mice in my freezer count as pets ????  I only know them as Franks dinner :p
- By susantwenty? [gb] Date 30.06.05 23:58 UTC
Nice i'd love to have the land to keep my own myself.

Warm regards susan

In addition to the Hungarian Mob...in this house we have..

5 Rats -
Darcie, 2 and a bit year old female black Rex who I got from the RSPCA along with her two now sadly departed sisters
Abbie, 1 year old female, bought from a pet shop as she was the last one in the cage and I couldn't bear to have left her.....silly thing to do but she's lovely
Izzy, Abbie's brother, very independent..bought for the same reason...thankfully the shop had the sense to have them in seperate cages :D
Ralph and Finn, Darcie's neices who are probably the cutest, most inquistitive rats I've ever owned, also had their 3 brothers who are also now at the Bridge :(

One Corn Snake....not sure of his type but he's not the usual colouring but is gorgeous! He's called Yazhi (yar-zee) but I usually just call him Snakey!!

That's all, would love some Cavies tho, or even some Bunnies but parents say no so will have to wait til i MOve out!
