Do the lancashire heeler dogs have any associated health problems?
Are there any breeders of these dogs in Ireland either north or south?

The Kennel Club recommend you buy from eye tested parents. The secretary of the breed club should be able to help you find Northern Ireland breeders and would probably help you get in touch with someone regarding the South:-

Good breeders will also have their puppies eyes screened before they are 12 weeks old for Collie Eye Anomaly

A friend of mine has just has his Heeler operated on for PLL. Primary Lens Luxation. He lost a previous Heeler to Liver Shunt.

That's why they parents should be over 3 years old & eye tested & the puppies eye screened as well. I wonder if the Optigen DNA test for BC's applies to Heelers

Yes the optigen test does also apply to Lancashire Heelers as well as Aussie Shepherds, Rough Collies, Smooth Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs List of Tests for different Breeds

Thanx I didn't know that Heelers had CEA until I was talking to a breeder(before the DNA test was available)I thought it would cover them
