Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Anyone heard of Pascal Rottie?
- By Guest [gb] Date 30.06.05 08:59 UTC
I have GWP pups for sale and have advertised via the KC and Puppy Planet. An enquiry came from a Pascal Rottie, initially saying he wanted a puppy as a pet for his son. I mailed him details of the pedigree and the remaining pups and my usual list of questions. All he came back with was to ask the price. I replied. He has now mailed saying the price is okay and he is shipping (SHIPPING???) 2 other puppies, and can I send him my address, etc., so that his agent can send me a cheque...
Has anyone else ever heard of / from him?

Haven't heard of him but I would never sell to someone solely via the net & have never sent a puppy abroad without a personal recommendation from either someone I know or a breed club in the country of the person concerned

I havent heard of him but something similar happened to us not regarding sale of dogs but my sons moped, advertised in Loot got e.mail from someone wanting pics,so my hubby showed what to do and i went out and took some really good pics, felt very proud,he also asked what would be best offer. Next day checked e.mails ready to send pics and had mess saying he would now pay full asking price, also mentioned shipping agents and someone in this country owed him £8000,he would send us the cheq could he trust us to take money for moped and send him the rest and his agent would pick said moped up for shipping.I thought thats odd who trusts someone you dont know with £8000 rang hubby he said tell him where to go,e,mailed and basically confronted him with being a con merchant, the e.mail got returned as not being able to send,so beware, there a lot of scams going on,you put chq in your bank and send or ship or give puppies, and the chq looks like it clears then it bounces and you are left in enormous amount of debt,it goes on, on ebay aswell so personally i  would be aware and look into further before agreeing to anything he may if course be genuine but i would be very cautious. Maybe you need to get some sort of recommendation or say you are only selling to people who are prepared to come and look and pick up personally if hes geneuine he will do this if not you wont hear from him again but at least you will have your pups still to sell to a genuine buyer.Hope this hasnt bored you.

Yep I had an email the other day from him and I don't even have any puppies for sale anymore. I would steer well clear. He was looking at buying a Gordon Setter from me. I din't even grace him with a reply.

I read something like this in the dog papers a few weeks ago, Dogworld or Our Dogs. Same story as you. Puppies for sale and shipping etc.
It is a scam. They get your details and con you into sending money somehow.
BEWARE!
