What is the best method to stand my 6 month old st bernard. If i try to put her back legs in the right position she stand with her legs turned out like a penquin. I know she can do it as if she is out and she sees something, she stands lovely. We go to ring craft every week and sometimes she will stand correctly but not very often.I have my first show next month, so realy need to work something out. Thanks

Personally, at this stage, I wouldn't be too worried about getting a perfect stand :)

We have a young pup, he's 7 months tomorrow, and we have been going to ringcraft since he was 3 months old, and also practicing at home and when we are out and about and for the most part he is very good BUT for a puppy I don't want him too disciplined...it is meant to be fun afterall :D

Keep at it and it will sink in, you will also find the more shows she does the better she will get...we've only done about 6 shows but he gets better each time :)

Good Luck with her, bet you are realy excited about your first show?!!!

Thanks for you advise. I am only going to put her in companion shows at the minute and i am excited/nervous as well.

Will her back legs stop being like a penquin as i said its only when you try to position them and she is only a baby at the end of the day.

Do you mean her hocks point outwards, or her feet? I'm no expert on St Bernards...know nothing actually :D...have you spoke to your girls breeder about this, he/she may be able to advcie you better than I can :)

Companions shows are excellent for practice, much more relaxed than even open shows and plenty of opportunity for socialisation.

I'm of to ringcraft now with my little one, hope what I've said helps

Hi, no i mean she sticks her feet out. I have seen her stand properly so i know its not a fault, just her being silly.

Thankyou for your help and enjoy your ring craft.
