Well, the pups are 12 days old , very strong and doing well except for last night.  One pup cried all night so I stayed up all night and in the morning I noticed mucus in the corner of one eye.  the eyes haven't opened yet.  I took him to the vet, my regulars were out of town of course.  he is on liquid clavamox and triple antibiotic ointment for the eye.  he is acting fine now.  has this ever happened to any of you.  I have heard of it before but have never experienced this.  If so ,  did it cause any permanent damage.  I've caught this right away so I am hoping nothing will be abnormal.  I just wonder how infection gets in there with the eye sealed.  Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi
I have had this happen to kittens a few times. They look like they have big bulging eyes underneath the closed lids, then when the eyes open thery are full of pus and are infected. Sometimes they are just BORN with the infection for whatever reason. For what it's worth they have always been fine after treatment. :)

thanks Maryanne,  today it looks great.  the corner is opening. no more puss.  i'm lucky it was never swollen. so far, so good.
