Is it ok to put a bit of bisto gravy onto an adult dogs dry complete food, or will it do them harm?

Im not talking about smothering it, just a drizzle over it.

Bisto is very high in salt and as such will unbalance the complete food if used long term.

A drizzle of gravy should be oaky but gravy can be very salty. Have you tried adding some pilchards or sardines in tomato sauce or oil? Dogs often like the taste and you won't need much to encourage your dog to eat

Bisto contains quite high levels of salt, but a little occasionally should do no harm.

When my dog was younger I wanted to wean from tinned dog food to dry, he was it hard going and found a bottle of dog gravy in one of the larger pet supply stores, after giving it a go he suffered from the runs and stopped giving it to him. I'm not saying that all dogs would be affected this way, but just to let you know that 'dog gravy' is out there if you wish to use it.

I really wouldn't give Bisto. You could try a little tomato ketchup. As a treat mine loves poached egg with a little ketchup on - shouldn't really, but oh those doggy eyes

One of the people who bought one of my puppies ended up with a kidney infection by using gravy and was told it was like posion to dogs. I give it to mine occassionaly on their sunday roast dinner they have once a week but that is it.

If I have a chicken for sunday lunch then I boil the bones and pour some over the dog dinner, they love it and nothing bad is added, it also freezes well so you can have a portion for every day of the week. :)

Edited to say: just the stock and not the bones, pour in though a sive to make sure no bits of bones get into your dogs food.
