At what age can you start studding dogs ?
As soon as they've had all the necessary tests needed in that breed. I would think for most breeds just after 12 months of age as many tests can't be done until then and it takes a while to get the tests back
Is there an age limit as to how old a dog can be? I know puppies can't be registered if the puppies are born after the bitches 8th birthday, just wondered about dogs :D

There is no age limit on when a dog can sire a litter. :( I think there should be, but thats just my personel opinion.
Yes it seems a bit unfair for a dog not to have a retirement!

Sorry I though you meant was there a lower age limit didn't read your post properly, sorry :)
Personally I don't think most dogs mind as they get older they don't have to worry anymore when the bitch goes home :) :) :)
That's Ok :D I was only wondering.
I have used a dog at 11 years of age, he was stil fit though and lived for another 5 years. Wouldn't do it again though as I was petrified in case anything happened to him.
Do they not lose 'the will' as it were as humans do? LOL sorry I have put it the best way I can ;)

Ahh I wonder if that was why Oscar "wasn't up to it"?
some breed clubs have a lower age limit and a limit on the number of bitches a dog can mate per year ,in my breed a dog must be 18 months, not a rule i feel serves much purpose I cannot see why a health tested young dog should not be used earlier :)

I do wish they would impose an upper & lower limit in Cavaliers due to SHM but there is too much money to be made by breeding them so little hope Their should also be compulsory health tests including the MRI for SHM Not in my lifetime I think tho
