Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Windsor - Lift needed from south!!
- By hebeboots [gb] Date 25.06.05 16:51 UTC
Hiya, I'd really like to get to Windsor on Hound/Toy day to see the bichons, and my car has let me down and won't be fixed in time. I live on the Isle of Wight so would love a lift from either Portsmouth or Southampton?? If anyone could help me I'd be a very happy bunny!! Lindsey xx

Hi - we are planning to go (if I have recovered from a nasty virus in time) from Brighton, probably leaving by 7am.  Don't suppose that would be any good.

Hiya, Thanks so much for thinking of me, but I don't think I'd be able to get to Brighton in time, but again thankyou anyways Lindseyxx

Ha ha you lot are funny! Well I did look into getting a train, but I'm having a real hard time finding how to get from the station to the show ground itself?? I'm not the most well travelled person in the world! Sad or what?? Thanks for your suggestions anyway guys xx

There must be a bus or something from the station, not everyone with dogs drive so I imagine there will be a few going on public transport - couldnt do it myself though, I have trouble enough getting from the car park to my bench with all my garb plus dogs pulling me every different way :D :D

Having done public transport it really is virtually impossible to get anywhere at teh weekend in time for judging.  Also it is invariably prohibitively expensice even if you advance book train tickets.  Taxi's often refuse dogs, buses don't run until late and tains take forever because of works or don't get there early enough.  Teh only option really is another exhibitor willing to take you fro sharing the travellign costs :(  I am in the same boat for the Houndshow.

Yes it's a nightmare! Ah well, I'll keep trying to get there. I'm only going to watch the bichons and Windsor's my favourite show :( Thanks anyway xxx

Hi I have been to Windsor Dog Show many times by train, its a doddle!!. From Portsmoth or Southampton you will arrive at London Waterloo. Then all you need to do is get the Windsor and Eton Riverside train, they run every half an hour and the journey takes about 40 mins. Get off at Windsor and Eton Riverside. Then it is about a 10 minute walk. By the way turn left outside the station, dont head into the town.
hth AND ENJOY YOUR DAY..
