Yes look at the sites on coprophagia. But most of all just do not worry about it. This is common with puppies and mostly it is to do with them mimicking maternal behaviour [dam cleans up after pups] and the fact that they are scavengers and do not waste decent food. When puppies are in a litter instinct and learning tells them to eat all they can. This travels over to when they go to their new homes - it takes them a while to adapt and to learn they are not going to be starved.
If it does continue past the age of about 6 months you may need to look at their diet.
Most of all do not tell the pup off for this. It will only make it worse.

PS This is harmless so do not worry about it.

You can get some tablets called Deter. Try these they are very good. Available from vets or good dog food shop.
If you do not stop this then the acid from the faeces will start to rot the gums and cause lots of teeth problems.

Bella where did you get this from ? I had a BC for 13 years who would eat poo at every opportunity despite everything I tried & the only thing that stopped him was me cleaning it up before he got to it, when he died he had a perfect set of teeth & no gum problems

As far as i was aware a big percentage of poop was water! the last percentage being what went in the other end and wasn't absorbed.
Starlight, I can't give you advice, however regarding your point of people having 'a go' at others for asking a question, the only time I have seen people loosing patience with the people who are asking for advice, is when as this poster has done, they are asking a question and don't like the answers EVERYONE is giving them, so they then start a new post with the same question, and get told again how to remedy situations, and they still don't like the answers so they then ask again! If someone has asked a question, they get the same anwer from everyone and they decide they don't like that answer, then they should either try to explain the circumstances in more detail, so that if someone who has had the same experience can help, or they will have to find other answers for themselves. CD has the largest amount of experienced and knowledgable people, that are right on hand to give advice most, if not all hours of the day, in my experience, and they shouldn't be made to feel like their advice is worthless just because someone doesn't like what is being said.
I am not trying to be argumentative with you, as if you have just read one of this persons post's then I can see why you would come to the conclusion that you have, but there is a bigger picture here. Also I am not one of the experienced/knowledgable people I had in mind, and I haven't been involved with the post's regarding this person or her troubles. :D
Good luck with finding the answer to your query, I am sure the CD-ers have put you on the right track already :D

Starlight,
You could try adding pineapple to the pups food, or courgette (both minced) or try adding a little garlic to the food :) These foods seem to make the faeces unpalatable although it doesn't work with all dogs, the length of time they've been doing it may mean its become a habit.
