Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / AN OLDER LAB???
- By Guest [gb] Date 26.06.05 12:40 UTC
Do you think it would work having an older lab??  I wouldn't have any other dog apart from a lab cos I really do love them.  However I work full time.  I could give one a wonderful life with every evening and every weekend spent with it.  What do you think??

I think you are being very sensible - and I'm sure that if you contact one of the Lab Rescue societies that they will have a dog that is just the one for you!   Sadly, so many labs finish up in Rescue - often through no fault of their own - and too many people just want puppies.

Hi Margot, thanks v much for your reply. I have since joined.  I have read on the Lab Rescue website that they will not rehome if you are out for more than 4 hours.  As I put I do in fact work full time - that's why I thought an older dog would be better.  Any thoughts??

Glad you've been able to join Sindy - welcome to Champdogs!

With regard to working and Lab Rescue, I would still go through and talk to people in the various Lab Rescues - whereabouts are you in the country?  There are several people on CD who are connected with various Lab Rescue sites, and they may well know of an older dog who might suit you.    Obviously, a younger rescue dog might have issues and would need more time and patience than someone who is working might be able to spend, but they do get older dogs in rescue - let us know how you get on.

Good luck!
