I received two responses back.  One thought I was looking for a picture and wanted to buy impulsively....not so and the other gave me information.  I am not looking for a picture and buy on looks....I am inquiring about the nature and character of the breed of dog.  Thanks.

Hi guest

First off please join as you will be able to ask lots more questions and get lots of valuable advice :)

As for your other post I have just been reading it and can think of a few dogs that are in the gundog group that fit the description (welsh springer spaniel, brittany spaniel, irish red and white setter) which is what had already been suggested. What I would suggest you do is visit the Kennel club website, www.the-kennel-club.org.uk and look at the breed standards for these breeds and see if they are the ones you saw at the show. If you find the breed you were looking for then I would suggest you do lots of homework on your choosen breed before you make a purchase, join champdogs and ask for owners opinions and you could contact the breed club who could put you in contact with reputable breeders only. Think hard wheather this breed would suit your lifestyle as the spaniels need a lot of exercise as do all the gundog breeds. Be-aware that you may have to go on a waiting list as good breeders often have high demand for thier puppies, please do not buy a puppy from just anyone as they may not have had thier dogs health tested and you may spend hundreds of pounds putting things right that should not have been there had the parents been health tested.

I wish you all the luck in your search for a new companion but please don't rush, take your time and you will find a happy and healthy puppy to spend the next decade or so with. :)

Labs, Red and white setter, means Irish red and white setter, nearly every person in the breed misses off the irish bit, because we're lazy!!! :D ;)

Guest, If you would care to e-mail me at chatterbox@roanjora.co.uk I will be more then pleased to talk to you and give you information about the breed, and know of afew breeders/ owners round the country who are willing for people to go and visit them to see the breed in its home environment and talk to these experianced breeders/owners about anything.

Glad you are wanting to find more out about the breed.  they are a stunning dog to look at in pictures, but are not everyones cup of tea!!!

Hope to hear from you soon
