- By lel [gb] Date 23.06.05 23:41 UTC
When i first joined I had puppy Gus-
Now I have Libs and rescue girly Hattie
Ive learnt loads about doggy health, about showing etc
Ive changed my car to a multi dog friendly one :)
and also in process of changing to a more dog friendly house rofl :D
Ive met loads of friendly doggy people , both on the net and in person :D

Oh yeah and the kids are ok too ;)

Alot :D

Only had the two smooth girlies, now have my little beard boy :)
Used to drive a cute little Corsa...now have the 'Green Goddess' Escort Estate especially bought with dogs in mind!
Finally started showing after years of wanting too
Have learnt so much about dogs in general, showing, training, health etc etc plus other non-dog related stuff :D
And I have also met lots of people thro my dogs, this time last year I hadn't even been to a dog show and now I know lots fof different people, with lots of different breed, from all over the country!

And instead of being in bed...or out on the razz :)....on a Thursday morning/night I'm up late finishing college work and letting CDs distract me...as usual!!!!! Wouldn't change a thing tho :)

Loads and loads......

We had two Aussies, two labs, one car - and a little (very little ;) ) money in the bank!

I'd "lurked" for ages, joined just before (or just after) we mated Loki and gained a lot of support from all on the board.

Now, we have 4 Aussies, 2 labs, one car - and the Aussie Posse Wagon for going to shows/doing doggy stuff - and absolutely NO money in the bank.

The house nestles under a blanket of dog/cat hair - the only clear items are the computer and washing machine :D

I've moved house.

Changed my car.

Become very involved with Cats Protection.

Started a microchipping service.

Got 10 chickens.

Got 3 rabbits.

Got another cat.

And been spending far too much time on my computer. :-D

Hi lel
Although life hasn't changed too much for me I will say that joining CD has really expanded my world - I've learnt a lot about dog health and behaviour and had some really interesting discussions.
On a personal note one of the best things has been 'meeting' you, lel - the family history info you found for me was better than winning the lottery :)
- By echo [gb] Date 24.06.05 08:18 UTC
Viewing and reading the CD posts has taught me how to slow down and stop living at 200 miles per  hour.  Still living at 100 miles per hour - dogs see to that.

I am now keeping up with more modern ideas re vacinations training etc.

Keep on trucking Champ Dogs

Lel, funny you posting this as I was looking at something on the net yesterday and I found a post from 2001 that I had posted in and I think 4-5 people on the thread have different usernames now. I think my first username was around July 2001 so since then I have moved 2 times , built a house. Added goodness knows how many dogs :-D , finished my masters. Been showing like mad. Built  2 extensions.  and also now look 10 years older :-D oh and I got Married end of 2001 ( nearly forgot about that 1) :-D
- By m78lv [gb] Date 24.06.05 09:24 UTC

Well I joined in October 2000 ;) I was expecting my first Malamute puppy at the time, and got Hudson February 2001. 4 and a half years down the line now have 3 Mals :)
- By keeley [gb] Date 24.06.05 09:26 UTC
It's mainly caused me to be rather slow at work!

But, I've also interacted with some nice people, and have made on particular good friend.
- By carene [gb] Date 24.06.05 09:34 UTC
Had 3 grand-daughters of whom sadly the middle one died :-( (born at 23 weeks and 4 days...). Retired from work. Bought a year old lab as I didn't think it was fair on son and daughter-in-law for us to have a new puppy just after their sad loss....lab turned out to be  pregnant....had six puppies....we kept one...haven't had time for much other than dogs since :-) but we did move house a year ago...still haven't got all the pictures up - I wonder why??
- By Enfielrotts [eu] Date 24.06.05 09:38 UTC
I have a greater knowledge of dogs; I get distracted from my work :) My OH thinks I am 'obsessed', it cheers me up when I feel down, esp silly card games Sharon, and has given support in time of need.  Not much has changed in my life apart from what keeley said gaining a great mate and meeting some other fab people who share a passion for loving dogs :)

Oh and it has given me the kick up the back side I needed to change my job and get back to working with the best things in the world, doggies :)
- By hairypooch Date 24.06.05 10:20 UTC
I now understand and have learnt a lot more about dogs.......and humans ;)

I have got another pup, lost my best canine friend :( but still have my big bumbling idiot, as well as Murf :D

Moved house, changed cars.

Got poorer.........who hasn't?

And made one special friend who has been endlessly patient with me, given objectional advice where needed and got me through the really bad times. Thanks MP ;)

CD has also been my saviour, when I've needed advice, serious or stupid and has given me a good laugh when everything has been bleak and I've needed cheering up.
- By kayc [gb] Date 24.06.05 11:09 UTC
I have learned so much about human nature.

I lost Megan
Had another litter
before CD had 4 dogs now have 8
bought the Lab-Lugger (Skoda Estate)

But the most amazing thing I have found, is that so many people care about someone they have never met. They offer advice, comfort, and the occasional shoulder and ask for nothing in return.

Kay I think you are so right. I have a lot of lovely freinds now through dog groups and here :-D , sometimes it amazes me. Sometimes the distant freinds perhaps are the best. So impartial to what is going on around you.   :-)

I only joined in March this year, but since joining I have:

Laughed my ar*e off many times
Shed buckets of tears many times
Been late for work many times (I can't stop reading in the mornings!)
Had wonderful advice many times
Thanked God for CD many many many many times

Thanks members - you are all totally

:D

I joined in November 2002, 5 months after getting our second dog. I've learnt a lot about dogs in general, much more about other breeds. The most important things I have learnt tho' are:

I never, ever want to breed a litter or show a dog :D :D Definitely not my cup of tea :)
There are probably fewer breeds of dog now that I would ever consider owning :)

A very positive learning experience here - it's made me appreciate my limits :D

Learned loads, laughed loads and cried loads on here.
Moved from the Brum to the heart of the Welsh countryside.
Added 5 more GSD's to my family, and had my first 2 litters, 4 of the pups going into the showring, and 3 (so far) qualifying for crufts.

Pretty happy with life :D

Don't post on here much these days, but quite often sit down with a bottle of wine and spend a relaxing evening reading all the posts.

Since I originally joined as Lily Munster back in  April 2002 (?), I have increased my dogs by 1 and became a cat owner again.    I get a 'lodger' at the weekend in the shape of a CKCS, my sisters 18 month old bitch Tinkerbell.   Car has changed to something the size of a hearse to accomodate 4 dogs & a little one on the passenger seat!

I have bred 2 show champions and another 2 reserve CC winners.

I probably know as many rules about cat shows as I do dog shows now too!

And I have learnt over the years that there's a few 'show' people out there who have an unhealthy interest in what I have written anywhere.............but the worm is turning!

And I have met several genuinely nice people from this board - Mattie, ClaireB, LF & Blue. :D

Well I joined looking for an English cocker spaniel.
i now have an absolute nutter of a dog trying to trip me up every time i go down the stairs, will not let me get out of the room without being there, made me pick up my dirty underwear off the floor otherwise it is taken to his bed etc etc etc LMAO But my house wouldnt be the same without him!!!!
A few months after joining, thanks to Gwen, I did a 400 mile round trip to see Peter now known as Beano an American cocker Spaniel. Complete with mum, dad and 2 children in tow!!!!! And brought him home that day.
1 1/2 years he is deffinatly part of the furniture!!!
Lea :)

Joined when I had Morse, knew zilch, was a student. CD gave me kind advice, other people to talk dog with, learned about other breeds, found Working Trials for Morse and I to try. Started work, lost Morse and my heart broke, but had massive support here and will always be grateful. Found Big Eck, have helped birth and rear pals litter of boxers, now have first puppy, becoming Granny in January. In the next 2 years I hope Chloe will write her Exploits of Willis into a book or column and we continue laughing/crying/exchanging views here. Whatever happens in my life, I can be sure its on CD.

Jioned in 2001 and so far had a baby after a very long and painful pregnancy, lost my first ever Lab , gained another two :D Adopted a Lab but had to rehome her as she wasn't happy with the two hooligans hassling her ! She is happy in her new home :)

Had a loft conversion , had a flood so have had a total refurb of downstairs including knocking through to give us a fantastic open plan kitchen , dining , living area.

Had two new cars

Got made redundant :( They gave me lots of money :D Got a new temp job (16 months later...) but still looking for my ideal job.

Thats about it I think ! :D

When I first posted here it was a big warm welcome to the world of computers - my first attempt to log into anything and it was to champdogs luck or what. :)
I had Gyp back then but sadly lost her then had a break - upgraded to a computer I did not have to wind up - came back to champdogs and had to change my user name - couldn't get my old one back in for some reason. Sal was a baby then :) How times have chnaged now got two Staffs still got the cats changed to a dog friendlier car - need to change again now I have two - when I get time that is. Met some very nice people. And enjoy the exploits of not only Willis but Margot's Catsenders (due another installment I think) and many others including much missed Manic Morse.

I loved reading John's posts, and miss lots of people who have gone over the years.

Does anyone recall Bulldoglover? (sure that was her user name) ?

Karen

Joined April 2005, a week after we got Buffy.... we now have a dog proof garden -with lots of holes in...buying a new dog friendly car, spent far too long and been late to many things cause of reading posts! :)  I have had lots of helpful advice and have also realised i'm not the only one having problems and that they are not the end of the world and they are sortable...

And most of all I got a copy of the last episode of ER!!
- By dollface Date 28.06.05 00:15 UTC
Since I joined I have had a section - spay last litter (my dog not me :D), still have 5 dogs... Have got 2 ferrets, 2 rats (1 past away) 2 hamsters (both past away) and got another hamster, our Iguana Drako passed away :( and my one budgie passed away and we now have 2, 2 cockatiels and a dwarf mini rex (who is probably a cross, but we still love her). We started renovating our house and money in the bank, whats that? LOL :D Guess alot has happened I never really thought about it, hubby got a knew job, my kids have gotten a lil older by about 3 years, think I have been here that long. Have seen knew people on here and some have left :(

Most of all I have learned alot more about dogs, training, shots ect from this site and met a lot of great people with great advice and always willing to lend an ear and support when needed :)
