we went to ring craft for the first time yesterday, Paris was very good around all the other dogs and enjoyed all the attention from the other dog owners., but by the time she got to stand on the table 9pm she was so tired she kept doseing off, bless her well she is only 13 weeks a girl needs her sleep!! next week they have a show night and she has to go in it, dreading it as it will only be her second night there, hopefully she wont fall to sleep on me, :D

well second time at ring craft tonight and dreading the show which they are having, so nervous, also are all ring craft classess more or less the same? the dog owners seem to wonder in willy nilly, walk up and down the triangle a couple of times put their dog on the table for the trainer to go over and then go home?? surely if this is all you do why cant you just practice it at home ?

You can if you have a strange hall, full of strange people, strange dogs, strange noises and strange smells at home! ;) :D

I agree, I do most of my actual ringcraft training at home, practising stands, moving him etc(also at the park/beach/wherever we happen to be!) but I view ringcraft as preparation for the showing environment, as well as getting the dog used to a stranger puttting their hands in all sorts of places most dogs wouldn't dream of allowing ;) :D

Its also a great place to pick up schedules, meet other showing people, pick up tips on how to show...as well as how not to :D

You really can tell in the ring which people have put in the time to ringcraft their dogs and which one's haven't...stick with it and you will reap the benefits later :)

Im taking my boy to ringcraft soon too! I went along last night on my own to see what it was all about and to just really watch and take note, was very impressed, some really nice people, he will be going to his 1st class in 2 weeks time! cant wait! :)
Theres also a little show the end of next month in our town, just like a fun one (cutest puppy, waggiest tail etc.) im going to go along for fun, will be good for blue too, to be around other dogs and people :)
