- By Lois_vp [gb] Date 23.06.05 09:14 UTC
I went on a pony trekking holiday with my sister in 1974 and met my future hubby in a pub we stopped at.  Six months later we got married :)
- By Isabel Date 23.06.05 09:14 UTC
At work, was going out with another lad who had met him, told me he was a nice bloke and we drove out to the contractor's camp a couple of times to invite him out for a drink with us but never found him in.  Spotted him in the canteen and thought mmmmm and then did meet him and boyfriend (who was on the way out anyway ;)) was right I did like him! :D

I was a barmaid in a pub and mine walked in to ask if he could use the phone to call for a taxi :)
- By inca [gb] Date 23.06.05 09:26 UTC

Working in our bar in Spain, he came in, fell in love with me on sight.........HONEST ;) I wasn't keen because I was living with someone else, but he wooed me, persued me, talked me into moving back to the UK with him and the rest as they say...............is history, I've lived to regret it ever since.........JOKE :D

I met OH when I was doing my National Service in Israel many many years ago LOL he was one of the officers in charge of security not very romantic at all
- By jmo [gb] Date 23.06.05 09:36 UTC
No i think that sounds ever so romantic moon maiden.  My OH is in the armed forces, He always tried to chat me up every time he saw me for about 7 years, but I was with someone else, who I had been with since school. Me and the ex split up then I saw Ken out one night and we have been inseperable ever since.
- By keeley [gb] Date 23.06.05 09:40 UTC
I met mine in a bar in Lincoln on a busy Saturday night.  I spotted his gorgeous mate first, but it was Dave who came and stood behind me whilst I was having a little boogy just outside of the dance floor.  I spun round and noticed he was wearing a suit, so I asked him if he was hot, and he replies....

'Nah, I'm too cool to be hot'

I was hooked!! :D :D

He's not as bad as he sounded - he just likes having a laugh!
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 10:22 UTC
Our meeting was no where near romantic. We met in an internet chat room!!!! It wasn't CD and it wasn't a dating site, just chat. We had been chatting for abut a year on and off before we met in person. I was 17 he was 30, I lived down south, he lived up north, within 6 weeks we moved in together down south, 6 weeks after we got engaged, 6 weeks after that we got married, 6 months after that we got pregnant, and 18 monts after that we moved back up north! :D We have now been married for 4 and a half years, our son is 3 years old, and we are as happy now as we were when we first met :D
- By Alli [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:55 UTC
Hiya Natalie

I met my OH in a chatroom too :D I met him just after my mum died and was at my lowest point. We got on really well and he made me laugh and feel human again. He was always there when I needed to have a cry or a moan about how unfair life is. We chatted for about a year before we met. We have been together now 3 years and known each other for 4.  The strange thing is I had never visited a chatroom until that night and Doug was pretty much the same. I'm not sure I'm a big believer in fate but something certainly happened that night to make us both be in the same place at the same time. The room we met in held no interest for either of us :D :D
I have to say that I'm not keen on the whole marriage thing as I've been there done that and don't really want to get my fingers burnt again.
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 15:12 UTC
We were kind of the same Alli. We realise that we are 'meant for one another', and that had the internet not have been there, our paths would probably have never of crossed! We had to fight to be together my mum wasn't best pleased with the age gap and getting married so quickly, and my eldest sister (who is a lot closer to my hubbies age!!) was very friendly with him before him and I started talking, so she felt a bit put out! But we knew it was right, and I would have gone through it all again for him any day of the week!

I wouldn't be too put off with getting your fingers burnt again, although I can see why you may feel like this, I really believe that there is 'that perfect partner for everyone', we are one of the lucky ones :D
- By justlou Date 23.06.05 10:29 UTC
In a pub when i was 15 lol...he was a singer, then a year and half later on my 17th birthday we got married.....and this year i will of been married 10 years :-)

i met my hubby to be at the tattoo shop, saw him in there twice,3rd time i had a whitey and he was my knight in shining armour,we had said hello to each other,he asked what i needed and so i told him sugar,2 minutes later he was there with about 12 chocolate bars and a bottle of lucozade, bless him, thats when i actually noticed him.he said he noticed me the minute i walked in the shop,we have been thorugh a lot of hassle to get to where we are now, couldnt get ex to move out etc,he even moved ex's things for him.i am so unbelievably lucky to have him,he has taken on my children,my dogs and my rat,but most of all he has taken on me and makes me so happy,it is almost unreal....i cannot believe how lucky i am,and in 7 weeks i will become his wife,i feel honoured
sorry mushy at they come but its how i feel

Ooooo I am going to go and get my third tattoo with my mum in July :D She has always wanted one, but thinks she is too old , so I talked her round! It has only taken me 8 years to do so!!! Now she is really looking forward to it, and she keeps ringing me and saying things like "you had better not back out" no matter how many times I have told her I am the one with two already - I know the pain!!! :D
- By m78lv [gb] Date 23.06.05 13:53 UTC

:D
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 14:31 UTC
I have said this will be my last one, but I said that about my first and second ones so I doubt it will be my last! It is so true when people say you get addicted to it!
- By m78lv [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:38 UTC
its a perculiar pleasure pain,it makes me sleepy
- By Daisy [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:37 UTC
I saw a woman in her 60s/70s a couple of days ago. She had tattoos on her arms and legs, but her skin was wrinkly and the tattoos looked terrible and totally unattractive :D :(

- By keeley [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:39 UTC
Have to agree Daisy!  I've never liked them - not that I'm saying any of you will look awful - I'm sure you all look lovely - each to their own!! :D
- By m78lv [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:39 UTC
a lot say that to me,what about when your old,but most of my generation are the same,so at that age we will all look the same
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 14:44 UTC
I was 14 when I had my first one done, it is a chinese love symbol, quite small, next to my belly button, and people would say "yeah it looks nice now, but what will it look like when you have a big fat belly!" and I would say, "well if I get a big fat belly, I wouldn't be showing it off, so no one would even know I had a tattoo!"
- By keeley [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:46 UTC
How rude of someone to say you might have a big fat belly!  I'd have socked them one!!
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 14:49 UTC
I think they meant when I had kids!!!
- By m78lv [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:50 UTC
i had a dragon round my belly button and i wore skirts etc under my bump and short tops i was very proud of my bump, but the looks on peoples faces was a dream my dragon had seriously grown by the time i was 3 weeks over due,i found it amusing, but after my last child i had it covered, still waiting to have it finished but its having the time
mel :)
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 14:53 UTC
I was very proud of my bump - I didn't show it off as much as I wish I had have done, stretch marks just don't work for me!!! It was bad enough showing my mid-wife!
- By keeley [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:55 UTC
That's what I'm most looking forward to - having a bump!  I can't wait!!
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 15:07 UTC
Keeley it is the most lovely feeling in the world to feel your little baby playing football in your belly, that is until you can't sleep because s/he keeps kicking you in the strangest places and your stretch marks are so itchy you can't do anything but scratch, and scratch, and scratch some more!!! :D I am only kidding, it is sooooooooo worth it! :D
- By keeley [gb] Date 23.06.05 15:12 UTC
Aw, it sounds lovely!  I've got stretch marks anyway from being so fat so I don't care about them!!!  I'm the kind of person who just loves seeing pregnant women, loves feeling babies move in other peoples tummies and simply LURVES babies once they're born!  I just hope I don't have a 'bad' pregnancy, because I think I'm looking forward to that more than having the actual baby at the end of it all!  I've done lots with babies, having four sisters means lots of neices and nephews, but being pregnant - that's the one thing I'm yet to experience!
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 15:14 UTC
It is lovely, well I found it to be anyway! There isn't a word in the world that can describe it!
- By m78lv [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:56 UTC
i scared my midwife to death, children think that my kids have drawn all over me,went to pick them up from school the other day with a pair of daisy dukes and my bikini top on and a little boy said mummy look at that ladyies drawings,so she said shut up and wait till i get you home,so i just turned round and said no,he is fine kids are innocent they are just curious, its adults that come up to you and feel they have a right to make rude comments to your face even though they dont know you,i dont mind people commenting but some can be very rude and abusive
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 14:41 UTC
I think it depends on what/where the tattoo is. The ones I have are very girly, and I never have it so you can see both of them at the same time, I think it can look over the top on some people (me being one of them!!) but then on others it really looks nice! The only trouble is trying to find the next place that will be easy to cover up when I want/need to, but that will be just as easy for people to see when I want them to!
- By keeley [gb] Date 23.06.05 14:44 UTC
I agree some of them are very pretty, and as a youngster I thought about it, but the idea of pain put me off!  I just don't think they look very 'femine', even the butterfly sort of ones, but that's just my opinion! :D

Edited to say: I meant 'feminine' god, I can't even spell today (let alone read!)
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.06.05 14:55 UTC
The 'pain' part is funny, it does hurt, but not like child birth!!! But becasue it vibrates in you, it is quite relaxing at the same time. The worst sensation I had with the one on my shoulder was it itched like mad but obviously you can touch it!

He was my friends neighbour and he was over at her house with his dog, I came over to see his dog Cuervos - shepherd/collie. Lol :D never came to see him. He thought I was 2 different people when he met me cause once he seen my all done up with contacts and the second time I had glasses on in casual wear and hair down lol Back in the 80's with big hair, now I look at them pictures and laugh to myself, big hair :D With in that time July to September 1993 he kept asking me out and I was just happy being single, finally said yes in september and next thing I knew he never left lol we got married sept 95. Still very happily in love, we never leave the house or go to bed angry and always leave each other notes everyday :)

I met my husband in prison :o He was the officer and i was on the other side of the fence ;) It was the most romantic experience i have ever had :D

I love it when we see people that were either in there at the time or worked there, because they all said it wouldnt work/last! It's been 5 years and still going strong :)

I cant believe i'm telling a bunch of strangers this, but at least i can say i learned my lesson and have never been back!

Tippie - good for you girl......just goes to prove that sometimes a bit of "tough love" can work wonders on people.  I know this from first hand experience I had with a very wayward daughter.  She is now a mother of two and a joy to me.
- By Lara Date 26.06.05 14:59 UTC
I met my husband at a friends house.  He'd come round for coffee and I was already there :)
- By mygirl [gb] Date 26.06.05 16:00 UTC
Met my husband on a blind date that incidently had been arranged the previous week but neither of us turned up (it was a set up by friends).
Then they set it up again without telling us and the rest is history!! :D

I met mine when I was 12 got off the bus a stop early to show off my new jeans, he wolf whistled and walked me home. Called back 2 days later to invite me to his party. Mum put me off by saying what a nice boy he seamed, so i went out with his cousin.

A year or so later I called with some mates to see his brother and guess who opened the door! He asked me out again and on our second or third date picked a bunch of daisies and proposed to me. I told him to try again in a few years time. Got maried at 18, still together 20 odd years later.

Oh boy - I met my OH at an International Boyscout Jamboree, at Walesby, Nottinghamshire, way, way back in 1959  - he was the contingent leader of the group that my cousin was in!

I liked the fact that he wore short shorts - had good legs - and my little sis betted me an icecream that I wouldn't write to him - so I did - I didn't say I would post it though - so she did!!

Got married in 1963.....and the rest, as they say, is history!!!  He can still get into the same bl**dy shorts as well - legs are still good (though a mite hairier ;) )
