Sorry this one has probably done the rounds, but seeing as I find myself at a very loose end today (cancelled meeting) and I've walked the legs off the big dog and mentally tortured the pup.......I have nothing better to do
A woman gets into a lift and suddenly the lift comes to a halt, she looks panick striken because she knows that her husband is dead................................How? ;)
I'm now having a bet with myself, that the first person to comment on this will get the right answer........ooh well

It's not something stupid like her husband always told her that if he died he would stop a lift whilst she was in it as a sign?!

noooo Keeley, far to complicated :P

Ah, but now you can go treat yourself with your winnings

Feminine logic, right? so who needs lateral thinking :D :D :D
I do excel on hind sight if that's any help
ps. on hind sight, does that mean
I can go treat myself on
my winnings

Perhaps hind sight isn't my forte either :( I can shop .........

She already knew her husband was dead, but is panic stricken because she's frightened of lifts?

Whose winnings Teri? mine, yours...........you didn't award yourself any winnings........did you?

:D :P
Ahh the benefit of hind sight, if I had that I wouldn't be here today, I'd have been here yesterday.....

I hate shopping

Is he the lift attendant ?

Nope ;)

Was her husband working below the lift, and the lift has just squished him.

You'll all have to keep guessing ;)
she'd set a bomb to go off to kill her husband at a particular time

Good try but................nil point :P

Date 23.06.05 14:41 UTC
so when you gonna tell us the answer????
please !!!
mel :)

ive got it -
The lift is in a hospital, her husband is on life support, and the power has just cut out.
(Actually i bet that they have emergency generators for the life support, and how would she know it was the power to the whole hospital and not just the lift?)
well................
By keeley
Date 23.06.05 14:45 UTC
They probably would have generators, but it's a very good idea, I thought you'd got it until you pointed out the generator bit! Mind, you still might have got it yet!!

There's always one smart ar*e :D
Actually this puzzler was one that got me about 20 yrs ago and yep, I still keep reviving them.
The actual story is that the woman was in a glass lift of the block of flats that she lived in, (hence she saw all the lights were out for several blocks) she was going down as the hospital that she needed to visit to see her husband who was on life support was next door to her block, the power went down on the whole block so she figured that as there was no power, then the life support would also go down.
Yes they do have generators in hospitals these days, but 20 odd yrs ago, who knows. Even if they did, it would have spoilt the point of the whole story. ;)
By keeley
Date 23.06.05 15:18 UTC
Yay - thank goodness for that. I was getting desperate!!

It was the guy who sits opposite me at work who is the smart ar#se, the only smart thing I did was ask him :D

Think about it Claire..........you're the smart one for getting someone else to give you the answer :D
By m78lv
Date 23.06.05 15:23 UTC
i think the alternate versions were better,i do like a juicy thriller :D

But..........one begs the question, what was he doing in hospital on the life support machine anyway? Who put him there?
Did he live because they had a generator? Was the panick striken look on the wifes face, one of remorse, grief or relief?
Answers on a postcard please :P
