Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / castrated male with entire dog worry

I've been reading posts on here about whether to castrate or not. I have to say they are making me doubt whether I will get my new puppy castrated if I choose a male. Added with someone saying a male castrated Sheltie could effect his coat, badly.  Then something worrying came to mind. In a pervious post someone said castrated dogs smell like a bitch in season. Well my Jack Russell is castrated!  =/ Will I have my new entire dog humping my castrated dog? :o

I was thinking of calling my new dog (if male) after Oscar Wilde (as I really like his work),  but I don't want my dog taking up the real Oscar's sexual habits with an unwilling partner.   Does anyone know the chances of this happening? :(

i had a irish wolfhound x (castrated) for some years when i rescued a german shepherd at a cpl of yrs old. (entire) they lived happily together for 7/8 years. I cant says that i had a problem with humping, occassionally when playing they would mount each other. both of them did this from time to time in the excitement of playing. but i didnt see this a problem as it only ever happened when they where playing rather boisteriously. so from my experience castrated or entire didnt make a difference as both of mine did it.
im sure others will have other experiances,as all dogs are different :-)

not all castrated dogs smell like a bitch in season.  Does your dog get alot of attention from other dogs when he is out ? if not then I wouldnt worry :)
