hi i have heard that dogs only give birth at night, dusk or when its dark because they feel safer, is this just a myth or is it true?

I wish GSDs are notoriously long winded whelpers one of mine took 36 hours to have 8 puppies with 4 hours plus between puppies she slept I couldn't I am so glad I don't breed puppies anymore

My dog had pups yesterday.
First one at 9am. 10th one at 1pm.

Although most bitches do prefer to whelp when it's darker/quiter & a bit more peaceful.

I think I have been lucky, two of the three litters I have bred have arrived midday  :) but then I didn't get any sleep the first few nights anyway because I like to sleep in the same room and wake up for every feed.

Myth, although my Spanish like to start at about 2 in the morning and would much rather have them outside if they could :d  Oh and for some reason my dogs usually like to have them on a bank holiday weekend.  I'm not very good at timing :d
