I would just like to point out that anyone who has any worries about getting a deaf puppy that they are less trouble then a hearing dog.  I got a deaf english setter puppy and she was very easy to train.  She was more or less house trained by 12 weeks quickly learned all the commands that a hearing dog knows.  About a year ago we got a hearing english setter whom was used for breeding and give it a warm home.  These 2 dogs got on very well they even both shared beds on the first night, no aggression between either of them.  My dogs are both 7 1/2 years old and no trouble.  In fact the deaf dog is more obedient then the hearing setter.  A good website to find out more about deafness in setters is www.seavillesetters.co.uk and look under deafness.  People should think twice before putting a deaf dog down because from my experience deaf dogs can live the same has any hearing dog if not better.  Thanks

That is a great story. I have just, well yesterday, adopted a 12 week old deaf bulldog bitch and so far she has been brilliant. I am so pleased we have given her a home and I am looking forward to the training ;-) Thanks for sharing a positive story.xxx

I could imagine deaf dogs being better trained and more obedient, manily becuase without their hearing they don't want to wander as far as they are worried about getting lost and can't hear your call.

Saying that hearing dogs are also housetrained at 12 weeks! :)

But good for everyone who has adopted a dog with a disapility of some kind.  I wish you and your dog the best of luck!
