Hi everyone, I have been reading the posts on leather sofas with much interest, but now it is crunch time and I need to make a decision. We are torn between getting a softer one that scuffs, (not the v supple ones!!) they are supposed to look better with age/time and that can be polished, or getting a tougher "tighter" one that is less likely to scuff in the first place.....
Tally is allowed on the sofa..and sepnds most of the time when she is alone sat on it, she isnt destructive, but Vizslas do have unusually long toe nails. she does like to roll on her back on the sofa tho!! :-)
any opinions would be very gratefully recieved
Thanks
Kellie
I got an expensive soft brown leather sofa a year ago,I love it, it is really nice and really doesn't scuff, but I have lots of small children and i found that the dribble takes the colour out and i have been left with some pale marks from this. just make sure that your sofa it not (coated) with colour. I would go for a tougher one, but my soft one is really cosy i'm sure your dog will love it.. Take it to the shop and let it choose as i'm sure from experience it will probably spend more time on it than you... lol. Good luck on your sofa hunt.
sally.
My new leather sofa arrives in 2 weeks time (fingers crossed). I hope I made the right decision, the salesman scratched along the sample and it didn't leave a mark, so you could try this when you go to choose one.
Good luck
Amanda
As a fellow Vizsla owner, we known how much comfort they gain from sitting on the settee when we are not around....as well as when we are :D
We have a leather suite, which has alot of grain(if thats what you say) and also a chair which is softer leather, the chair suffers more but the suite still gets scratched, say when said vizsla(we also have one with naturally very long nails) jumps up suddenley from their 'bed'!!!! But a quick clean down with some special leather cleaner and scratch remover and they are gone. Hair removal is much easier too, we know how annoying those little spiky russet haor can be, but they just sweep right off the leather - easy!
Considering ours is quite thick it is also really supply and confy and we are expecting to get 20 years plus out of, thats alot of vizslak wear and tear :D
