Hi,

My boxer bitch who is 7 months, has had runny poo all weekend. She did 6 poo's in one hour. I went to clear it up, and they was thick runny blood in it. She did a poo this morning, and still the same.

I have rang the vet and we are going at 6.30 today.

She hasn't come into season yet, do you think she is just about too?

I am so so worried, and thought you experts might know whats wrong.

Thank-you

Hello guest,

Sorry to hear about your girlie, hope she's ok.  It sounds a bit like colitis, which is an inflammation of the large colon.  It can show itself in various ways, but one of them is diarhoea (sp) with blood in.  How is her behaviour? Does she look 'down' or is she still bombing around as boxers do!
I'm sure that the vet will get her sorted, it can make them a bit dehydrated, and in this hot weather I'd try not to get her too hot (easier said than done!).

Good luck, let us know how she gets on.

Ali :)

it`s sounds like she may have a touch of "Colitis"..... Do a seach on "Colitis in Dogs "it should explain it for you. You need to get her onto a good quality  dried food that is wheat and gluten free,  as this will help with her digestive system.   Natural bio yoghurt can also help, put a spoonful in her food every day......

I have Boxers, and unfortunatly they do seem to suffer with there tummies.

Good luck at the vets.....

Hi

It may just be that she has an upset tum and the blood is as a result of straining too hard. Please try not to worry too much until you get to the vets as it will only set your mind racing more. Its important to be vigilant and take action where needed but dogs do have a way of ensuring that we feel suitably sympathetic for them when they are poorly.

Last time my boy had an upset tum, the vet gave him the doggie equivalent of diralite and it worked wonders. It calms the inflammation of the bowel and stops the pooing and helps them to rehydrate. Im sure its something and nothing but let us know how you get on please.

Give her lots of TLC until its time for the vets.

Lots of Luck
