Hi my bitch is only just over 2 weeks pregnant this is her second litter, she had one a year and half ago, and already she is quite big. Her tummy is quite round and firm. With her last litter she didnt show til she was about 6 weeks and had 5 pups, im worried incase she has a very large litter and will need a c-section. She seems fit and healthy other than this, should i wait or have a scan done??

I havent bred a litter but a breeder did tell me that often a first litter is carried higher (and, therefore is less visible) because the muscles are tight. Second and subsequent litters may be held lower due to lax muscles ...and the bitch would look larger

To be honest at 2 weeks there isn't really anything to be showing, placentas don't start to develop until around 18 days and the embryos haven't attached yet, my girls don't have any growth as such until 4-5 weeks.

Like Sandra said, at 2 weeks there wouldn't really be anything TO show. With dogs going 9 weeks and humans 9 months, compare to a 2 months pregnant woman.Even a human fetus at that age would not be more than an inch or so. It isn't a case of her having got an extra amount of food is it? :)

Ditto it won't be the puppies. Look at the book of the bitch it will show you just how small they are.

My girl Skye is also 2 weeks from first mating,I can`t see anything yet .She has stopped playing with her daughter and she thinks she`s delicate. She won`t run and avoids her daughter when she is running and playing. She is a lab off working stock(gundog) and they are very lively . She could be pregnant or not.She went off her food last time,no sign yet,she ate soil last time, she`s started that big time.Need to buy top soil to fill in holes in garden . I will have her scanned next week can`t wait .

Hi i had a similar scenario with one of my pugs who is of eastonite breeding, i took her for a scan, and after wards she gave birth quite naturally with no adverse affects.
