Did anyone else se the picture in the paper today of the poor kitten in china with five legs?  It looked perfectly normal except there was a fully formed hind limb errupting from somewhere in the region of its genitals and 90 degrees to the other legs.

The owner (there are some strange people in china) was proudly showing of the poor cat as some sort of special.

Why on earth wasn't it PTS at birth.

My daughter was born with 6 fingers on both hands hmmmmmm no we didnt PTS.
I did'nt parade her either maybe thats what you should be discussing not the PTS issue.

As long as the cat is in no pain, and its not going to hindered by the extra limb, then why have it pts?

Theres a man in the states that has a ranch and he collects animals with extra limbs or some kind of "difference", he has horses with extra legs growing from stomach area etc.  If anyone has such an animal when the cows etc are giving birth they dont pts they just ring him and he loves them all and gives them a nice home.

I dont agree in parading these animals or pts. As liberty said aslong as it is healty and not causing the animal any distress let it enjoy life I say.

Is the cat restricted in any way? i fear not maybe the option is to amputate the 'extra' limb not PTS that would be a little silly in otherwise a healthy animal.

I didnt see the picture but have seen articles on Twisty Cats on the internet.

It would appear cats are quite prone to produce strange limbs from 28 toes to shortend front legs which give the appearance of a kangaroo cat.  Some people have bred these twisty cats for profit deliberately breeding from parents with the twisty gene.

I suspect the little cat in the story is having a lavish life style as it is probably worth money to the owner because of it's abnormality.  Sadly Nature is not so forgiving as us squishy humans and these sad little creatures would probably be killed by their own kind in the wild.

Personally I am one of those soppy individuals who would try to save the life of any tiny creature even though I know it's not a  wise choice of action.
