at 12 o clock tonight I will be crossing the starting line in hyde park, dressed as an indian squaw in a decorated bra taking my first steps of the 26 mile power walking marathon which is the playtex moonwalk - and im not looking forward to it :(

I dont think im going to make it this year, last year was painful enough but this year I have done absolutely no training what so ever

Im off to drop the boys at the dog sitters now in the hope that ill get some sleep this afternoon before I leave for london.

wish me luck

Claire :)

Good Luck :) Taking part is the main thing - I couldn't power walk one mile , let alone 26 :D :D

Well Done !

Wishing you lots of luck. :-)
I'm off for my power walk later - around Morrisons Supermarket. :-D

I agree with Daisy, it is the taking part that counts! I don't think I would make it across the start line at midnight in a bra!! I would be way too cold!!!

Good luck :D

SLEEP ??? whats that ???

I did it !!  I finished in 7 hours 10 minutes which shaved an hour and a half off of last years time.  I did most of it on my own as some were faster and some were slower in my team but of course there were always loads of woman (and men) walking so I was never totally alone - and such a festival atmosphere.  I was really pleased with my time and I dont really hurt much, ive got a few blisters and "shin splints" and a few achey muscles so it takes me a while to get moving if ive been sitting for a while :)  I finished at 6:10am sunday morning and then had to sit around waiting for the others in my team to finish, the last person came in at 9:15am so I didnt get home until 11:15 - and what did I do, go to bed ? dont be daft  I went straight home for a quick shower then it was off down the M3 to get the boys and then what ? go home to bed ? - nope , we went on to a companion show in Alton and met up with a few people from dog obedience club and also Fagans breeder / Alfies co-owner was there and Fagan went on to not only beat his sister in sporting but also got reserve best in show :D to say I was chuffed was an understatement, but its ok Fagan soon bought be back down to earth in the obedience where for the first time ever he broke his down stay  I blame the heat ;)

So anyway, after all that I got home at 5pm ate a chinese, downloaded my pics from the walk and finally got to bed at 8:50pm to watch corrie - dont know what happened though I was dead to the world within minutes :D :D :D

Well done Claire, on all counts :)  You must have been so pleased about your time.  But just one question..... Where on earth do you get your enegy from? :D  I'm exhasuted simply reading this.  Anyway a great big congrats :D :D

Ha ha, im not sure where I found that energy, after 5 miles my legs were hurting and I never thought I would do it, I then put my game plan into action - do it as fast as I can, then when it does start hurting I will be closer to the finish line, but it never started hurting bad and I was girl on a mission pounding past everyone , taking in the sights of London as the sun came up - it was great and really pushed me to finish :)

As for the sleep thing, ive never been a big sleeper and as long as I keep on the go im ok, its when I stop that it gets dangerous and it was such a beautiful day yesterday there was no way I could have slept through it :D

Well done ClaireyS :D You must feel very proud of yourself - and so you should. Now you will have to start thinking about next year ;)
- By ClaireyS Date 20.06.05 10:21 UTC
Thanks, yes I am planning to do it next year (this time last year I was swearing that I would never do it again :D :D ) - maybe we could get a team together from champdogs ;)
