Hi Deary, will be there with my impeccably behaved Whippet and my extremely naughty Italian Greyhound. Where all hell breaks loose you'll know you are near the Italian ring. What breed do you have?

Hi Jan,
Well i will not be to hard to spot as my chap is in the AVNSC Working as there are no breed classes for him ( If i remember correctly ) so i will be the one with a 8 stone, 10 and a half month old black mountian otherwise called a Newfy.
Hope to see you there

They're lovely dogs - I saw one at the ringcraft class I go to the other week (I think he was in the ringcraft could have been in the obedience before us!!)
That wasn't you was it? Woodley near Reading??
I'll try and come along to Slough on the Sat to see your big mountain!!

Hi deary
Can you tell me where the open show will be? I live near Oxford and must have missed all the advertising :) I have never been to an open show, so what should I expect? Will I be able to take the kids?
Thanks in advance
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
Well its a bit of a way to come for an open show , but if you do fancy it you should expect all types of dogs all breeds and if that is what you enjoy then you should have a good day.
of course children are allowed to come but on there best behavior as a lot of people ( and quite rightly ) have spent many hours getting there dogs ready for their turn in the ring and they don't always like people stroking there dogs , just get your kids to ask the owner first.
Well the address is Montem Leisure Center, Montem Lane ,Slough Berks SL1 2QC
But i will be at another show on sunday in Huntingdon at, Sacrewell Farm and County Center , Thounhaugh , Peterborough in case that is any nearer for you.
The judging starts at 10 am for Thames and Huntingdon
Hope that helps

Hi all
thanks for the info on Slough - spoke to hubby and we will definatly be going. If I can wangle it, I'll leave the kids at home with the in-laws. We went to Crufts on our own and it was a lovely day out.
Where abouts in Bicester, Jan? That's where I live. Will you be going to Slough to show?
regards
Sharon

I live at Caversfield on the old MOD estate. Have only got the whippet and one Italian entered at Slough so it could be quite a sane show.
I'm going too, I'll be with my Boxers.
Abby aka Trumist Ain't No Saint = brindle & white, tall puppy.
Misty aka Wisella Perfect Edition For Trumist = red & white, stocky
moo-bag, who is in the open breed class.
:)
Look forward to meeting you all.
Kind Regards
Kirstine

We're going too!!!:D :D :D My sister lives at Eton so it's a good opportunity to have a doggy morning and visit her in the afternoon!:)
How will we all recognise each other? (I seem to remember this discussion before Cruft's....)

Cathy!!!!
We'll be there!!! Not showing though as I didn't know it was on so didn't enter Holly in time :( I'll be there with Chris and the kids, we'll be easy to spot as Ellie will be all in pink and Issy will be in her lilac, green and blue tartan pushchair :) Assuming the weather is good, if it's not Issy will be in her pushchair with her white fur coat on :)
I'll email you my mobile phone number if you like so we can arrange to meet up whilst we're there.

I'm going too, with my Whippet and TWO mad Italian Greyhounds, one of which Jan has to take the blame for, since she bred her!
Kirstine, was your girl that you lost last year (on other subject post) the lovely old red girl that always acted like a puppy? I used to look out for her in veteran classes at my local open shows, as she was so bouncy, and she always made me smile. I'm so sorry you lost her.

Ok guys , i'm back off to college now , it will be nice to see you all on Saturday , please come over and say hello with your prize pooches!!
Deary
Yes, My Trudi was the bouncing red & white Boxer in the veteran classes.
She was placed 3rd in a Breed Ch show veteran bitch class in the beginning of the August and we'd lost her on 1st October (aged 10y.o. 3wks). She had cancer (ruptured kidney tumour) which although she pulled thru her op she died by 9pm. With hindsight she went at the most kind time for her (the biopsy came back a few weeks later and it was nasty, the cancer was feeding on her arteries, so the vet would have advised to have her pts)
My only regret was I didn't get to say goodbye as I didn't want to upset
her by going to the vets that night, as she'd have wanted to come home
with me, she hated being left :(
Still I have her very nutty great neice Misty (moo-bag) a r/w bouncing
Boxer and her great-great neice Abby a b/w tall spring-bok Boxer pup.
I also have many treasured memories of my Trudi (I hadn't realised how much of an impression she'd made at shows) as her obitury in the breed notes of DW read 'she was a dog in a million'. Everyone loved her. :)
I still miss her & showing her off in the veterans class, she was my first
very own dog, and she was very special and still is.
I'll stop now before I get too silly..
Kind Regards
Kirstine

Hi Jan, Hi All
Hope you all had a good day - sounds like you all did :). I didn't make it to the show - we got a 'phone call as we were getting ready to leave (we were going to drop the kids off with in-laws) to say that their new house that they bought recently got burgled in the night. They had started sorting their stuff out from the two houses they own now to the new one (which will be their last move hopefully!) and they got a call to say the alarm was going off and could they go straight there. Needless to say they were gutted but luckly(?!) the ***** only got into the garage and when they tried the house the alarm scared them off. They did manage to take quite a bit of stuff though - including their new £400
bbq! :( So our day way spent helping them to make lists of what was stolen, wait for the cops, make tea, phone insurances, make tea, wait for cops!!!!!
Still - I'll have to try again at the next show. Sorry I couldn't be there cheering you all on, but I was there in thought :)
Jan - What breed do you have?
Catch you all soon
Best wishes
Sharon
