Hi all you experts! I have been reading the showing Q's , but it's like anything it's simple once you know the basics. I have owned dogs for the past 17 years, and bred, but I would like now for the first time get into showing, where do I start, my breed club?? what questions would I need to start with, duh brain I know, but I now have a very promising (in my opinion taking on board what I have admired within my breed over the years at shows - (my litters have always been sired by established show studs) and want to have a go! Please help with direction. THANKS!!

>where do I start

by joining champdogs :)

and then maybe attending a local ringcraft class to get the basics and they can guide as to what shows to enter etc.

good luck :)

Well the first thing is to get your pup to ring training classes.  then just enter some shows.  If you get either Dog Wortld or Our Dogs all the shows are advertised there and you can rign for a shedule.

Bear in mind that entries tend to close as much as about 6 weeks ahead of the show date for Open shows,a dn about two months for Champ shows.

Often some schedules will be available at Ringcraft and you may get to know of any Companion shows around which are a great training expereince for pups, but unless you happen on an expert in your breed the judging should be taken with a large pinch of salt.

Read the instructiuons, class definitions and rules in teh schedules and then fill them out accordingly.

Joining the breed club/s and attendign their shows is of course allso a great idea.

Let us know what breed you have too, and vaguely where you live - there may then be people who can help with breed specific enquiries, or local training clubs.

Also, find a local show and go along to watch - would be nice if you've made a contact on here first to meet up with for a chat, and to explain some bits to you.
