Topic Other Boards / Foo / Need to loose 2 stone in two months
- By Thompson1 [gb] Date 27.05.05 10:12 UTC
Just been for an appointment before having my feet operated in approx 3 months.  the Dr was concered as I am 16stone and should be around 13 and wants me to loose 2 stone before my final appointment before op.

I have jsut joined the gym this morning  and hoping to go at least 3 times a week.

Has anyone got any diets which could help me loose the weight in such a short period of tme?

Hope you can help

I have to say that Weight Watchers has worked for me.  I lost 2st 5lb in 10 weeks, more than I have lost with any other diets.  Haven't bothered going to the gym, just increased my walking, which the dogs love!!
Starting to slow down now, but I am still losing.

As someone who has dieted for 3 quarters of my life.

You could try slimming world. Great diet. You can lose upto 5lbs in the 1st week sometime more. But it is recommended that you should only be lossing an average of 1and a half - 2 pounds a week. The quicker you lose it. the quicker it goes back on. :(

I have found the 'you are what you eat' book and cook book fantastic, although there are some things that many won't like its relaly not as bad as you may think - deff give it a go as the book is well worth a read - she says that diets only work in the short term if at all so eating a balanced, unprocessed,  heathy diet will help a great deal, then again each person is different but if you can stick to it I am sure you will see great results :)  Good luck with it all.

I lost over two stone with weight watchers but it depends which type of eater or drinker you are.  If your problem is you eat masses then I think slimming world is better my problem is not quanitity it is what I eat!

I recently joined slimming world and have lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks, have been cheating a bit this past 2 weeks, but still losing, lost 5 pounds in my first week, if you stick to it, you will lose the weight and you can eat anything, it is just a matter of educating yourself.  Good luck, whatever you decide.  If you want some more advice PM me.

Atkins for me ( done properly I might add -not from a sunday supplement ! ) just under 2 stone in 3 months ( but I have eased off and cheated :D

I joined slimming world 5 weeks ago and have lost 1st 2lb to date - It's really easy but just basically healthy eating and limiting the amount of protein and high carb foods you eat together i.e green days all carb, little protein and red days all protein little carb. Easy peesy! :-)

I'd recommend slimming world over all the others. Its the one  and only diet that has worked for me.  You are NEVER hungry ( as long as you like bananas :-) ) and you can have the odd wicked treat. I lost 1 1/2 stone in 9 weeks. Its a really  easy diet to follow, you can do it on a tight budget if you need to, you dont have to buy lots of special foods.  I'd sign up with your local class and go for it.

Atkins did it for me too .I lost a stone and a half in 6 weeks.I have cheated several times since though and put back on but if you stick at it ....it does work.
My friend lost 5 st in 8 months on the Paul Mckellar   Think yourself thin CD and book....no diet involved just brain conditioning

If the Atkins diet is good for you, why did Dr Atkins die of a heart condition and fat?

I dont think anyone has said it is good for you - but you do lose weight from it, even if it is unhealthy :)

Claire (who is a strict veggie so cant do the atkins diet :(  )

Dr Atkins died because he slipped and fell on some ice ,sustained head injuries and slipped into a coma.Shortly after he died at the age of 72.There have been some reports that stated he had a heart attack but the cause of said attack is not known.Yes there has been some reports that his weight caused the heart attack but at the end of the day it's just journalists reports and lets face it  they'll write anything to sell a story.
Whether he died fat or not is irrelevant....the diet does work if you stick to it.I find people who criticise the diet have either never tried it or couldn't stick to it.
Proof of the pudding is in the eating

A really good diet is the "eat a bit less and exercise a bit more" type.  Watch your portion size, walk that bit further and faster and write down EVERYTHING that passes your lips.  Other than that, diets don't work long term.

The eat a bit less thing may work long term but to loose weight fast you have to do something a bit more drastic ;)
I have  a big appetite and I hate to be Hungry -with the Atkins I'm not hungry and the weight is dropping off -I am now increasing carbs and can control my weight which is something I've struggled to do with other diets -I've also found its easy to slot into family meals -there's nothing worse than having to cook seperate meals and OH hates it when we have different stuff -this way we eat near enough the same stuff :D but at the end of the day -each to their own ;)

Go back and ask your doctor to help you.  They are all keen on getting people to loose weight and quite a few surgeries are helping with various fat digestion inhibitor pill.  I dont think I can say which on but I have had help from my doctor with medicind and lost just less than a stone in one month.

The diet for people awaiting to have heart operations is good and makes you lose weight quickly.  Really the doctor concerned should of helped you or passed you onto a dietician, surprised that they didn't!

I have just lost a stone in one month but unfortunatley this was due to having to hand rear a litter of eight puppys.   Great for your figure but puts about twenty years on your looks due to no sleep at all!!!
