Just found this on an English site advertising Puppies/dogs for sale :( It is 'his' response to someone calling him a puppy farmer.

No-1. Someone calls me and ask me to find them a long hair Chihuahua female, between 6-12mths, must be good with children and other pets, as they have 2 cats.

No-2. I then do what I do best. I search the country for a long hair Chihuahua female, between 6-12mths, which is good with children and other pets, as they have 2 cats, which is reasonably priced.

No-3. I contact the person who called me, tell them where the Chihuahua is located, and it is up to them, whether they would like to go and view it themselves, or if they would like us to pick it up and deliver it.

No-4. We also have people calling us, asking for us to try and rehome there dogs. So we get them to send us some picture's, we put them on the net, people call for them, same again, they can arrange to view the dogs or I can deliver them.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

I've seen that its becoming a massive war on that site between puppy farmers breeders and do gooder public. My neighbour was going to get a rottie x labrador from him but when she went to see it, it was very thin and didnt loook to be the age it was surpose to be.

Yes there are plenty more 'adverts' that have been used by people to have a slanging match.

Sounds like a broker or middle man, totally unecessry but not a puppy farmer, though some of the breeders he introduces to potential buyers probably are.

People should really only ever deal with a  breeder direct then they can ascertain that the pups sre responsibley bred. 

know no responsible breeder who would deal wtih a broker in this way they would want to see and have contact with the peopel having their lovingly reared pups.

No Brainless - I thought this at first, but on checking he has got adverts up selling puppies as well.

If he is selling them then he is a dealeer, but not a puppy farmer unless he breeds them himslef, either way it is no way to buy pups.

Another thought for you.

There have been a number of cases in the last six months where a bitch and her puppies have been stolen, usually it is thought by travellers. Some of these travellers work with their mates who have a house or in one case was a local authority dog warden and had kennels! The puppies were sold on with out papers, but all purchasers were assured they were getting pedigree puppies, which they were, the only thing is they were STOLEN puppies! Yet another reason people should not be encouraged to buy from anyone other than a responsible breeder.

Perhaps I am wrong here, but the description given by I presume the original poster is clearly the description of a dog dealer, which is against the KC code of ethics.

A dealer is a person who buys and sells things. Seems to me this poster fits that descrition.

Well if it wasn't for the delivery offer I suppose it could be no different to a web site that advertises litters for sale.  If the purchaser is able to go and view the litter and dam themselves I don't really see the difference what would matter is if there is a vetting procedure going on once the contact was made and that is not clear from the piece we have been given.  It certainly doesn't fit the usual description of a "dealer" where no contact is offered between breeder and purchaser.

That is why I thought it was a broker, rather like the puppy lists that Pet Plan use or even the KC list.  Except they don't get involved with delivery, and they take a fee from the seller, or not in the case of free listings.
