Hi All
Just a couple of questions I hope you could possibly help me with.
My doberman 'Molly' who is almost 3 and generally in tip top health has developed a clicking noise from her bones / joints everytime she gets up from a sleep or having rested a little while! does anybody know what this may be caused by and any possible solutions - before I take her to the vets. It doesn't seem to be affecting her in the slightest but I don't want it to affect her in later life.
Also i have noticed a couple of times in the last few weeks she has a little bit of what looks like greeny coloured residue / slime hanging from her rear end (womens bits!!) its not often but again I wonder what this could be?? Urinary infection perhaps. Again it's doesnt seem to worry her.
I look forward to any help
thank you
Mark and Molly
Hi Beatts
Without wanting to panick you, if she were mine i would be taking her to a vets asap it could be a pyometre if it is then this needs urgent vet. attention.
You could also get the clicking sorted while you're there too ;) :D
Hi, take her the vets asap because it's better to be safe than sorrry. No one can diagnose a dog if they dont have the relevant qualifications or experience. I hope she gets better soon, keep us posted of your progress. She may just need a course of antibiotics, the clicking noise and discharge definitely need checking out.
Warm regards Susan

Hi
Thanks for your advice. I have just read an article on pyometra it says it only affects bitches around the season time. Molly has been speyed since she was six months and so this is unlikely- as one of the cures is to get the bitch speyed.
I will still take her to the vets of course, as something must be causing it.
Thanks

Yes, do still take her to the vet and urinary infections can be very nasty too as untreated they can track up to the kidneys. Bitches that have been early spayed do seem to have problems in that department as the urethra does not seem to get into a good position for emptying if hormonal developement is cut short prior to full maturity.

Have you had your bitch hip scored? this means her hips x=ryed and sent of to the speiclaists for grading for signs of Hip dysplasia. were her parents scores good. If they were scored then the reuslts wold appear under their names on the her registration certificate. If they ahd low scores then it is less likely to be HD, but occasionally even good scores can produce a dysplastic.

Hi
She hasn't been hip scored but I will look into it. She comes from very good breeding stock and her parents were owned by Doberman obbsessives so I am sure they will have had scores done. I will find out.
thanks for the help
Mark

Just look on her registration papers and under their names it should say Hips, the date they were scored, and the result.
