My smooth coated chihuahua ralph recently died and I am heart broken I now feel there is a huge hole in my life.I am despiratly seeking a new chihuahua however every breeder i have contacted has been too expensive. I cant really afford over 400 pounds however at a push i could maybe save to around 500 is there anyone out there who can help me! It doesnt have to be a puppy it doesnt even have to be a young dog as long as it is good natured (not that I have ever came across a chihuahua that was bad natured)Thank you all kindly, kerri from scotland

Hi Kerry i know the feeling well, dogs become part of your family and you greive them when they pass on.  It's just a suggestion but why dont you wait and try to save up for that special dog and make sure it's had all the relevant health checks and that you research the breeders you are interested in well then you wont jump into buying a puppy on impulse and come to regret it later, i'm not saying you will because i know every dog what enters your household you love, in this way it will cause less heart ache in the long run.  Good luck in your search for your new companion.

Warm regards Susan

If you wouldn't mind a slightly older one why not try a chihuahua rescue?  I don't know if they get many in rescue but I'm sure if you contacted them you would be able to go on a list and help out a rescue!

Good luck and keep looking! :)

Also I would find out from the bred clubs what the price range should be from a reputable breeder, as sadly the breed has become fashionable and uscrupulous peopel are breeding Chi's and supposed chis (often crossed with a more prolific breed like a Yorkie) for silly money.

If you think about it though Chi pups are bound to be scarce and relatively expensive as they tend to ahve small litters and the breders may well keep the only pup born.
