Unfortunately none of my choices for an affix have been accepted :(  Can anyone suggest where I can obtain any help or ideas.  I have tried to anogram my name etc but the ones that were declined was an anogram.  I have everyone in the office trying to help buy none are catchy or sound right!  Thanks in advance. :)

I have German Shorthaired Pointers - thanks for all your advice and help guys you are fab ;)

If it is any help mine begins Tre which is gallic for "home of" and then the first few letters of the pet names of the two dogs that first got me involved in showing.  Perhaps something like Tre at the front of your anagram might have got it past although, of course, you don't want to make the affix too long as it reduces the flexibilty of puppies names.

for £10 you can buy the kennel club affix directory either by phone or online and it has all used affixes in, i have just recieved mine today and i am finding it really usefull as i can look up what names have been taken.

VKblue, The kc only up date the directory every three years, so depending on when it was last up dated lots of the names in it may have already gone.

My affix is made up of my two foundation dogs and we got first choice.

My affix is a made up word consisting of 2 colours in Hungarian(red and golden, I think!) that I stuck together but it didn't quite look right so I stuck another letter near the end..if that makes sense. It ends with a 'y' so I also applied for an 'ie' ending and changed a few other letters so it still sounded the same....like 'as' instead of 'os'....am i still making sense???!
Hope this is of some help.....I got my first choice too....I think made up words are more likely to be granted as they are part of your own imagination :D

Our affix is the name of a small village in our breed's country of origin - we just trawled through an atlas until we'd found two we liked and submitted them in order of preference and luckily we got our preferred choice :)  A foreign sounding name may not appeal to you of course but if it does I'd have thought there must be some obscure, remote place names / locations in Germany to be found that might appeal to you that have not yet been utilised.  Failing that you could think of a word (or two) that sums up your dog(s) character, appearance, relationship with you etc and use the German translation of same.

Like Teri, I looked at a map of our breeds country of origin and picked out some names from there. I started looking about 18 months ago but only liked the one name so didn't bother submitting it. Later on I had two choices I liked (one foreign and one English) and a few I didn't mind so I applied. I was granted the original name that I had chosen :D (which is the name of a river). I wasn't too sure on the English word anyway as even though I liked it, it was a registered TM and I would have had to apply to use it (far too much hassle!) but in the end it was too close to an existing affix. The only reason I was contemplating the English word was that it wasn't breed specific.
