Hi I have just got a Jack russell x pup. She's nearly 6 months old. The people i got her from said she 80% toilet trained.  I take her outside wait some while and she does wee but not poos? Im feeding her once a day in the morning but she doesnt go until alot later, is this normal? Even when I walk her she often does go but will go when we get back either in the house or outside- I need help please.
Can I re train her to be clean inside the house? Shes not crated at night but shes confide to the kitchen.
Thanks

Toilet training pups takes a lot of time and patience :)

When you take her outside you should be encouraging her to go. Use a word that she will come to associate with toilet, like "hurry up", "be quick" etc. Whilst she is going use the word. The minute that she has finished make a huge fuss of her and give her a treat or a toy, basically whatever she enjoys as a treat. You need to go back to basics, treating her as if she were an 8 week old pup.

Please bear in mind that she is still young at six months and you say that you have just got her,  she will take time to settle in and become used to you and what she deems to be strange surroundings.

Also, did you speak to the previous people about the diet that they used to feed her? In my opinion, she is too young to only be eating once a day. I would say at least twice a day. My pup is 6 months old, admittedly a larger breed than yours, but she is still eating 3 times a day plus, because she is growing rapidly and also always hungry :)

And finally, have you taken her to the vet for a check up to make sure that she is healthy, wormed etc? You can also discuss any concerns that you may have at the same time :)

Thanks for your prompt reply, Im new to this.
I have been using the words 'go for wee' when I take her outside and she does go after a while, then I give her a treat and a big fuss.  I'll keep doing this and ignore the little accidents.
The previous people said they fed her in the morning but gave her 'what they were having ' in the evening.  I'll try feeding her twice a day, she's having Bakers Puppy complete food which she likes.
I have noticed that she buries her treats and her chew bone. She was with two other adult dogs before I got her - do you think they took her food?
She has been fully vaccinated and Ive wormed her when I first got her. Shes got a vets appointment soon.
Other than the toilet trainning she's settling in well, do you think a crate/pen would help?  She does seem ok with just sleeping in her bed that in my kitchen.  She confide there with a dog gate, but we have a cuddles during the evening in my front room.  She ok at night too no crying or chewing- any advise?
Thanks
