Just got back from puppy training and feel a bit flat!  The trainer told me my dog would be good if it wasnt for me :-(.  We are in class with 6 very chilled out puppies and then my yorkie that is quite highly strung.  I practice all week with him, and tonight just cos he wouldnt stay in the "stay" position she blamed me saying he would be fine without me!!!! Am I being too sensitive?

Depends how they put it to you, clearly there's no need to be rude :)  However the trainer is correct if they were letting you know that is down to you how your dog behaves, that is what training is all about.  Turn the tables on your trainer and ask them how they are going to tackle facilitating you to become the owner they want you to be :)

I would take what the trainer has said with a pinch of salt we all have "bad hair" days with puppies in training, even the most experienced, to be honest I used training classes to socialize & get puppies used to being around other dogs, the real aim of training classes is to train you to train your dog away from the class rather than training the dogs.

I would forget the comment & chill out next week which should help your puppy who will pick up on any tenseness you might have

Yeah Isabel I thought of saying well tell me what you want me to change, but as soon as she said it she was off. There's a miniture schnauser (sorry about spelling) when he arrives hes very giddy and wont listen so the trainer will take him and show the owner what she wants her to do, she has also used all the other dogs to do demonstrations on several occasion but will never take mine (I think its cos she knows he got a stoney will ;-) and wont do what she wants).  I like the classes and will take her comment with a pinch of salt, but I do get the feeling she doesnt like me or my dog ha ha.
