Does anyone have a contact number or address for Holway Retrievers, i have a bitch from from this lineage (Treganhawke on the dam side) and would like to find a suitable stud dog in th e south west area (i live near Exeter) any tips or help would be appreciated.

Hi Di,
I will email you some contact numbers I have on record for Holway. The affix is as far as I was told used by a Mother and Son - June and Robert Atkinson and they are in Dorset. I have never used the numbers myself (but believe them to be correct) but was given them when looking into my dogs pedigree.

If you are still having trouble contacting the Holway affix let me know. I don't have the phone number but I know a friend of mine does so I can soon get it. Lovely working dogs!

Hi Di - I'm NOT the person to ask about good lines to mix etc. I leave that sort of thing to the experts and purchase any dog I want ;) I have a lad from working lines (with some Holway in him amongst others) and a girl from show lines.
Hopefully the Atkinsons will be helpful to you and be able to tell you what lines would mix well with yours as reading previous posts on here there is much more to breeding a good litter than putting a dog and bitch of same breed together.
You seem to have the right idea in that you are just not looking for ANY stud dog to put to your bitch. Could you go back to the breeder of your girl and chat with them about it ? They should be better able to judge than anyone on this board what stud would compliment your bitch.
I think you will find that despite everyone on here being extremely helpful when they can be no-one will be able to comment on your choice of stud as so many factors need to be considered that can only be done by people who know your bitch as well. Has she a weak front for instance and could do with a dog with a good front and so on. How close would the breeding be between the 2 lines etc. This is where the help and advice of her breeder would come in so useful.
I hope you continue to post on here and let us know when a decision is made and a litter on the way :)
Hope it all works out well for you and you find her breeder and whatever stud dogs breeder you choose helpful to you.
Sara :)
