Someone is comming to see the last pup tonight :-(
Their last dog was pts a few days ago with a incurable skin condition at 11 months old :-(
Does any one know what this could of been (in a staffie) & if it could be passed to the pup?
I tried to phone back & ask but they must of left to come & see her.
I would not like to sell her if she could catch this -
Thankyou in advance

If it was sarcoptic mange, the mite can survive off the host for 2 or 3 days. If it was demodex, then it's not contagious between dogs.
Hope this helps.
at a guess demodectic mange which is very hard to cure and thought to be hereditory and not contagious
sarcoptic mange and walking dandruff (not proper name ) are both easily cured with strong hold or washes if treated early before the skin gets infected.
i would give him a bath in a mild insectisidal shampoo as a precaution.

they have just been to see pup & it was demodectic mange their dog had :-(
Anyway their dog was ill from day one with infections etc & the vet decided it was best to pts.
They had checked with their vet & was told it was not possible to pass on to other dogs.
Thanx for your help
Jo
