Blue,  I posted a topic on the guest site about my 14 week old westie.  I can see how it looks to a reader but its quite difficult condensing 8 weeks into a sentence. I kept to the breeders diet for two weeks altho' pup turned her nose up at milky feeds after a few days.  I continued with chicken, mince etc  but after two weeks or so, started to incorporate some naturediet a bit at a time until she was on it 100% from 10 weeks.  Shes never really been that fussed tho'.  She didnt eat for a whole day once. Just kept sniffing at it and walking away, and that was without any change of diet wotsoever, no scraps or treats. Shes had Sunday roast scraps 3 times since shes been on nature diet.  Ive given it as a fortnightly treat really. She ate the cats food twice this weekend while everyone was in the garden, cheeky mare! and ignores her own food thereafter for about a day, sometimes bit longer.  Ive added some cheese to her food on two occasions (mostly to satisfy myself that shes eaten).  I gave her some chum puppy and mixer on sunday(seems to be same consistency as catfood) and shes eaten more of that than nature diet.  So apart from 3 meals of scrap in 5 weeks and the cat and chum food this weekend, shes been taking or leaving nature diet for 5 weeks.  She looks lovely and healthy, plump but can feel her ribs, vets are happy etc so Im not concerned shes losing weight.  Im definitely not over feeding, and I dont go by naturediets measures as they are too big. I believe variety creates fussy eating which is why ive continued with nature diet.

Im going to just keep lifting her bowls til next feed time as Im probably a bit guilty of leaving them down for too long.  Sometimes I pick them up, sometimes I forget.  I need to be a bit more consistant here I think.

Thanks

That is OK Newgirl,

I would be a liar if I said that they are not a breed that can be fussy sods at times not all of them but some of them but I do think alot of the time it is if we let them or they are getting more than enough and as owners we can worry. :-)

Mine didn't jump up and down about the naturesdiet to be honest , I used it once while caravaning but have heard others really like it.

It would be great if all breeds eat like labradors and we just restricted the food properly.

I sure sign to tell you not to worry is when you look at them. You can feel the ribs but not see them.

:-)  Dog can at times wrap their owners around their Paw.

Hope she settles in fine.
