Hello
I was wondering if you could give some advice. We have recently bought a pomeranian pup which we are told is about 12 weeks old. We get him on Friday 3rd June and his papers etc will be with us shortly. The breeder could not give us a exact date of birth. he has not had any injections and we have booked to see the vet on Tuesday 7th June. He has been with other puppies and needs a bath. Are we ok to bath him immediately and can we use a flea shampoo straight away or do we use an ordinary dog shampoo until he is older.
Many thanks
Hi, yes I would bath straight away! I'm concerned that the breeder does not know the date of birth though??????? And why were the papers not available straight away? why not register and give us more info :)
As a Pom. breeder I don't register my Pom's until late on, they are a heartbreaking breed as pups sometimes. I also wouldn't worry about the lateness in having the injections as we don't do ours until 12 weeks at the earliest.
NOW, I would be extremely worried that the breeder doesn't know when the pup was born. How many dogs were at the house? I hope also that you have it in writing that the papers are to follow, if not, I'm sorry to worry you but I would think that you've gone to a very suspect breeder and more than likely you won't get papers.
Oh, by the way, if they've got fleas and your pup is now 12 weeks old then yes you can bath it in a flea spray, get it to the vets straight away for any treatment that it may need for said fleas.
Hope all goes well and please register with us, it's free :d
Have to agree with spanish waterdog. I don't register mine untill 8 to 10 weeks because i want the name to fit the dog. Also ask what papers you are getting. Is it just a pedigree or are you getting KC registration papers also. As for jabs i don't do my puppies because it forces the new owners to take the pup to the vets. All my pups go to my vets a few days before they go to there new homes which covers me also if somthing is found on there visit to the vets.
Very worrying these people don't know the date of birth. I even know the times for my pups. Do you know if they have both mum and dad? make sure you see mum at least and ask for a picture of dad.
Good Luck
