I just posted a topic there regarding my pups toilet training and that he is picking up on it well...but sometimes he is out in the garden playing for most of the day...like today..i was with him doing my garden while he frolicked in the grass, I came in for a coffee and he tottered behind me.......I turned round and there he was peeing on the living room floor!!! this isnt the first time this has happened, we could be away for a nice long country lane walk, come in, take the lead off and there he goes...he does it on the floor! or he cry to go out for a pee, and come in and do a poo...is there something i am doing wrong here? :-( or what can i do to stop him?
oh well thats a bit of good news for me....(not for you!) at least I ain't the only one lolololol !!!:-)

That's normal. Leaving 'your mark' in the great outdoors is a very dangerous thing for a young, vulnerable animal to do. It will only leave evidence of its existence where it feels safe (less chance of being eaten!). At the moment your pup only feels safe in your home - so that's where he'll mess.
To boost his confidence you always go out with him and stay out with him until he's 'performed'. If he trusts you that'll be the security he needs.
thanks for your reply....we can spend at least 20-40 mins with him outside and he will do a pee, but as i said he still comes in and does the other half!! but in saying that i got up this morning...no mess on his pad....and straight out he went..poor thing was bursting lolololol!!! and i will look out a warmer jacket!! :-)
Leo did that for ages, it was very frustrating - unfortunately the only cure we really found was patience and taking him outsiide a bit more frequently for specific toilet time not play time - dont worry he will get the hang of it soon :)
Are you using treats to reassure him that what he is doing where he is doing it is the right place?
When you go out make sure you use your commands to get him to do his business, and if he does a wee wee or a poo make sure you use that word lots when you praise him for that action.
He will soon understand what the words or commands mean and you should be able to encourage him to do his wee wees and then poo outside before coming in.
My youngest is two now but i remember many a visit to the garden at 3am standing there going 'monty, wee wees - wee wees monty' over and over lol.
They soon get the idea, its just consistency and persistence - and lots of praise/treats/toy time when they do what you want them too :)
well he has done it outside!! with the command wee wee..maybe just beginners luck lol....and i made sure no neighbours were around whilst i was talking to him lololol! but he has done it, so now i wait and we go poo poo's! cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Actually if he is out in the garden most of the day then he isn't really learnign houstrainign, if he hapens to go he does, and the same in the house.
Housetraing works best when it is done specifically. Yu take puppy out every half hour, and after fod water, waking or a game and give them a command word and wait for them to perform. IOf they don't then back inside and try again, all the time being vigilant for any signs of needing to go, usually sniffing or getting into a crouch. for my pups that often means if they go to sit doen they are whipped outside to perfom :D
Hi Denise
It seems a lifetime ago of standing on doorsteps with one eye open and other closed while nature took its course!!lol. The other thing to remeber is not use disenfectant type cleaners to mop up as this has an ammonia smell (like wee). Use pet odour cleaner or bio washing powder in water. Does he go to the same place in the house?
no he likes a change lolol!just when he needs he will go no matter where ...but in saying all of that today, he has been doin really well, but.......he only just went n peed in the kitchen all but five mins ago.....i knew by the way he came sneaking into the living room he had done something lol!
I don't know what other people think, but if you are trying the hands on method of toilet training then it would be better to keep the puppy in your sight at all times unless you know he is sleeping in his bed/crate. That gives him little chance to sneak away and wee somewhere he shouldn't, and allows you to watch for signs to get him into the garden :)
Hi there, Your puppy is certainly not backwards!!!!! He is just not making the connection that outside is where he should go. I agree with the others - back to basics I'm afraid. I've also experienced the scenario when you think they've finally got the jist of things and then its back to square one and, once again, its back to basics!!!!!!!
